Right, so....

You will need to install dosbox ---> https://www.dosbox.com/
It's in the ubuntu repos so sudo apt insall dosbox should work...

Then you google ABANDONWARE and go crazy

Then you will have to learn how to work with the DosBoxPromt - It's like the old days but with more stuff
Let's say you have a folder called DOSGAMES and you want to be able to browse that like the old days from your DosBoxPromt and run GAME.EXE from whatever subdirectory
You will have to mount that DOSGAMES directory from your DosBoxPromt before you can have any fun: https://www.dosbox.com/wiki/MOUNT

Have a look at this brilliant video which shows the basic steps and more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jZl6KQLR-Zs

I'd upload some Doom classics to my MEGA.co.nz space if you want; I'll PM you the link.

The reasons for that kind of offer are that most abandonware sites don't have the best games; they simply link to other paid game sites like GOG and that I have forgotten where I got mines.

With those out of the way, I would probably check out https://winworldpc.com/home

They don't have just games, they also have abandonware software and they're the few that don't link to paid game sites, and yes, just like GOG.l

Ultimately, you might want to check the invitations section of the forum and ask for an invitation to go to iptorrents. Those guys are wicked for all things pirated. The link to SuprBay's ratio torrents site is: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-The-Tra...ons-Thread

The secret to using ratio sites like IPTorrents is that you should pick the "free leech" torrents to earn points and leave the torrents open for at least two weeks so you don't get charged for hit and run.

Hope this helps, and ask for more help if you need clarification. Sorry, I'm typing this at midnight, so I might seem to sound squiffy.

I've got dos box installed but totally a good thing to point out because I'm sure other people are reading this too.
On the other hand I never thought of searching on Abandonware.  I'm going to go hunting and thanks for mentioning it!

Duke Nukem was my childhood and boy Doom was a really close 2nd for me.

I'm planning on creating an entire database of really great old classics.  I mean, I just played Pac Man for the first time last night and it's an addictive game.  The 70s must have been awesome with games like that.

We'll keep an eye out.

In the meantime, you can also play retro console games like SNES, Sega Genesis, and the original NES by downloading emulators and its corresponding games. Both can be found at: www.vimm.net.

And yes, Ubuntu does at least have ZSNES in its repository... or at least I think. Linux Mint does, so...

I've purchased my domain and now I'm working on my project.

I'm hoping I can serve up all the good stuff that's pre-1994

web.archive.org

If you're looking for anything old, you can come here.

If that's too much trouble, just Google something like "DOS games Web Archive" or some shit like that.

There was a torrent with every DOS game out there, 7 parts if I recall

I consolidated it and saved it to a BD disk as a backup, needs a BD50 to hold them all

1407 files in total

I was quite an old gamer some time ago, when I had any interest in gaming, most of old stuff I was finding at Russian web-site old-games.ru, I don't know if it has English version, but they do have very massive collection of old games, pre-1995, yes, 1980s too. Here's the "games catalog": https://www.old-games.ru/catalog/. There is search & filters on that page. Search results also give https://www.old-games.com/, from what I can see they have pre-1995 too, but I'm not familiar with that at all.

I was about to share that link too. Tried it a couple of times and worked well for me.
