What is "DHD"?
#1
I've been trying to find certain files for a compilation, (mentioned in my previous thread) and I've found that a lot of them are in these rar formats with the tag "DHD".

They come in multiple parts, usually in 12 rar formats. I've gathered that the tag might or might not stand for Digital High Definition but that is all I could find on the subject.

More so, I wish to know how I can utilize these files, or even convert them to a singular, more ideal format like AVI for easy viewing on different devices.

Could someone please help me get a grip on these?

Multiple RAR's for video are an old release format. Normally if you highlight one or all of them using e.g. 7zip and extract to 1 single folder you'll get the movie.
To convert them to .avi. Well there's many software on TPB that can do that

Oh good! I've never bothered with them because I was iffy about the "parts" which didn't make sense to me at all. Now I can expand my resources even further.

DHD is the name of the scene group that released the video/s.

And multiple rar files aren't uncommon, though they aren't really needed these days. They are leftover from the 'old days' when if you got a bad piece of a download, you wouldn't have to redownload the entire file, just a part of it, but that generally isn't a problem anymore.

OH! Alright. Now that makes sense. See I figured it was something to do with DVDs. Their video being in some sort of segmented format when first taken from the disc. (As I'd never bothered with disc ripping aside from music). And that DHD was either the name of these files or the name of the process. Which would explain why I couldn't find "DHD" in the glossary of torrent terms or mentioned anywhere else but in the names of torrents. I'll certainly tread lightly though.

That ^

If you're unsure though, once you've found some such content you're thinking of downloading, it wouldn't hurt to post a link here before you download so we can have a quick shufty to confirm before you download.
