What has happened to the fun at SB?

^^^ This statement sums the answer up 100% I think. I don't know, maybe the void is in a quiet spell and will pick up in a little while...

For that to happen, someone has to create the thread in the first place for some interesting and even 'lively' dialogue to follow. I've said this before.... those threads aren't going to write themselves, so instead of waiting for someone else to create interesting, intelligent threads (the kind where flaming/gentle trolling takes place but is so subtle that most don't recognise it), be proactive and get some started yourself.

I'm trying to

Quote:It's all well and good saying 'this place needs more whatever' or 'SB could do with more..' but if everyone had that mindset, we'd be looking at a blank forum. The heart of this forum is the members, make it what you will by means, but contribute instead of waiting for something to happen.

I'm not sure why you feel the need to nit-pick spud. SB is the best forum by far. I obviously didn't spell it out clearly enough. SB is the best.

All I was saying a light hearted approach with wit and the occasional bit of humour that’s all. I wasn't criticising any part but I suppose if you look hard enough into any suggestion you can flip it on its head if you want to. 'Optimist/Pessimist' glass half-full/empty perspective.

I like mine half full thank you.

By creating this thread I thought I was contributing by getting people thinking and having the choice to post or not.

It appears my contribution wasn't that well received oh well tough I’m sure those who think me asking questions is annoying or boring but you’ll get over it.

Honestly, I don't think it's nit-picking Snill, She's stating the truth as she see's it. I happen to agree with her. The void was realy the only place where the "funny" stuff is expected to happen. But like she says, in the other threads, the conversations on different circumstances happened to contain witty or funny statements as part of the dialogue. One thing about humor, I'm sure most people agree. It has to flow naturally; if its forced it becomes more stupid than funny. Like I stated earlier, just hang on, I think it's just a quiet spell because others are too busy to actually make void posts... Just my guess?

I wish I hadn't bothered with this now.

I dont think I should try and post new threads because my point didn't come across at all.

*snilly smiles to himself and shakes his head in bewilderment of how such a simple post got all upside down in a matter of posts.*

What was your point? Help me understand...You know me; I don't always get things the first time around.

OK LZA read the first post again please.

The point I was making and it would appear without much success is SB used to be an all round fun place to be. No not an all round fun place the best forum ever, wit and tongue in cheek humour should be used as the writer deems appropriate. There doesn't seem to be many general conversations where this can happen and I think thats a shame Sad

In general discussion I don't see many general discussions or conversations plenty of one sided points yes but not many discussions and I believe if the GD lightened up a little bit then it would be a better or more fun place to be. Just my point of view. Smile

I am not criticising the fact that SB is brilliant place for knowledge and help that goes without saying. I have been helped loads and I appreciate all the help and advice that is out there.

The reason for starting this thread was to get dialogue going between members and to have a little fun on the way. Absolutely nothing to do with the void. that has it's own place and stands on it's own two feet and very successfully.

Maybe I didn't get my point accross first time and maybe I still haven't but hey I'm giving it a damned good try.

Maybe what I'm asking is more conversational pieces in General Discussion more generalisation of conversations but not too heavy. Serious conversations yes but more general conversations and in real life even politicians pop a joke or two in to make a point. Life isnt all doom and gloom.

Any better LZA see where I'm coming from now??

No, just a difference of opinions, that's all. No one has to be right or wrong.
