Recently the government in Ghana approved GM seeds to be used by farmers despite the huge outcry and protest by both some farmers and the wide variety of consumers.
It seems most of the deals for the approval where done before the whole issue was even presented to the public and parliament.
There was a documentary on DW TV on how Indian farmers are committing suicide b'cus they are unable to pay back loans they used to purchase these seeds.
If, after all these bad publicity and distaste for GM crops we are forced to still use it.
I am concern as a consumer, and I would like to know your take on GM crops.

The fact they do the deal without caring about farmers and consumers is already a big nono. I find annoying how the countries in the world speak about "democracy" when they only mean government of the money.
About the topic, I am against. Even if some people deny it, humans evolved eating organic stuff. Any change often has effects hard to detect and with long term ailments. Even ignoring public health I do not think it makes nations more wealthy since all the genetic modifications is probably made in advanced countries.

so, you are against creating drought and flood tolerant crops that can feed people in developing nations? and you are against crops that don't require pesticides?
how about oranges? do you like oranges? do you realize that without genetic intervention, oranges will become extinct within a decade or two due to a global phage? non-gmo foodstuffs are a privilege awarded by class. nothing more.
so, yeah... the copyright issues plaguing the agricultural industry is disgusting... but there's an equal amount of disgust in every industry.

Fuck Darwin. Fuck Evolution. Cloning is the ONLY form of reproduction which guarantees that offspring are pure.
God knows what hell might be unleashed upon the world if we allow scientists to modify genes or, WORSE STILL, allow nature to just mix them up randomly.

Without a form of genetic modification (known as selective breeding) carrots would not be orange, bananas would contain inedible seeds, tomatoes would be small, and corn would not exist.

My friend that says, as a scientist, he supports genetically modification, or biotechnology.
I share his stance. But although it has afforded us conveniences, I think it may be of our undoing. We are literally playing God here. And don't laugh at this, but what if the food we modify evolve become sentient or exhibit poisonous properties over time? Remember Terminator?
Because of feeding cows flesh, we get mad cow disease. This isn't genetic modification, but it does parallel; you're altering the body sciences, just like messing with genetics.
Cloning will not bring about a new form of reproduction for humans; it will only destroy it. If anyone wants that, then I will pray.
Ethics, of any sort, is important to follow.

I don't concern myself with the ethics of it. I only ask, "Is it safe? Does it taste good? Can it help people? Is there a reason to do it?"

I love it, I also want to glow green like a gene manipulated pig.
Joke by side. The problem is that a company's main goal is to make money money and more money they would sell you radioactive food if you would eat it.
Keep in mind a company has no soul, exemple: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wg-52mHIjhs

I don't think much about it. Virtually all the grains that you eat (cereal, rice, etc.) is GMO. I don't see a lot of people getting sick from eating it.
