Hello. Wanted to share this article with you all. I know here it is all about pirating and such but if these VPNs fail this simple test they could fail harder tests too. So pirate safe and be sure to check out these VPNs. I personally like that NordVPN and PIA are on the reliable side of things Better safe than DMCA notices lol

Most of the pirates here are using Windows so they clearly don't care about their privacy and getting a secure VPN isn't going to improve their security posture.

Interesting, I of course have Express VPN, which is first on the list.
Even though I have nothing to hide in emails, a breach is a breach, but it seems the issue is more with Google than the VPN (if I read it correctly?)
Quote:Let’s be clear – we’re not here to sell torches or pitchforks. Sensitive though this issue may be, for all we know its impact can be trivial. It’s also not the VPN providers’ fault that Google has some nasty skeletons in their closet.
I have 2 email accounts, a hotmail and a gmail... I use gmail as my primary. I guess even with protection, caution is required... Would it be accurate to say that if you use services like google, it is known that big brother is watching, like windows 10?
Thanks for the info!

Always use Spybot Anti Beacon if you are using Windows 10 and make sure you block everything as much as you can with that program and make sure you keep it all up to date. That way Microsoft can't see what you're doing as easily. Then the other problem is just making sure that whenever you do "Pirating" that you use your VPN. I use Google Chrome as it's a very good browser and I always have Script Blocker running most of the time as well as Ad Blocker. That helps to deal with all the shitty ads and nasty scripts to make sure you prevent them from running on your PC I.E. Cryptomining. As far as leaking your IP address don't worry if you are using the VPN because it will only leak from the country you are connected to and as to be sure that no logs are kept at your VPN. Remember the laws of the VPN and what country they are based in reflect on how they could challenge you as to whether you are doing something that could be regarded as illegal I.E. child pornography. Just stick to file sharing and no nothing that's highly illegal the worse thing you could do is look at pictures of children they would arrest you for sure. The other problem you have is leaking from your email address. The powers of the government and law officials have the power to look in your email or bank account. They can do that if they want first they have to know where they are looking so if you plan on using an Encrypted email account like Proton Email you make it much harder for them to do that and also if you buy services like Seedboxes and VPN then it does help to purchase using Bitcoin and having a Bitcoin wallet but those steps you don't have to panic about more like gaining more layers in the sandwich to try and prevent anybody finding out who you are. If you're really that scared of being caught then build yourself a WW2 bunker in your back garden and it's somewhere to hide in case they find you lol
Windows 7 will be gone soon, it won't be too long now. Most people are going to be on Windows 10 so definitely a VPN is required in a relaxed area based (not UK or USA) and also make sure you use that Spybot Anti Beacon ;-)
If you ask me that article is a load of dogshit. Sounds like it was written by the people who work for companies like NordVPN cause they aren't getting enough business. Sounds to me like they are trying to spread nasty rumours about other sites to try and scare monger people into not joining them. Of course the issue is all about Gmail. I mean you just don't really do you, sign up with Gmail that's so stupid. It's so stupid to sign up with any email provider really cos law officials can just look in there if they want anyway. Not everybody knows this but it's true and really if you're that worried about it then simply sign up with Proton Email or there's another one I'm not sure about the name. They can't get in those cos it's not like Google who are into snooping into everybody's information. Like phones for example getting everybody to sign up to Gmail accounts so they can spy on you. The whole thing sucks and Google is bad really they know more about you than they'd like to admit. Stay well away from Gmail it's crap and I would avoid completely. Get Proton Email instead. It's amazing what the Government can look at. They have access to all kinds of things that people don't realise. They can get into all sorts of stuff like turn your webcam on and have a google look at you, get into your inbox and read all your juicy stuff, get into Facebook, get into your bank accounts and see what's been going in and coming out. It's amazing that people don't realise this. They do this for all sorts of reasons. All this Snoopers Charter that was brought out, that is bad enough really they have the legal right to do all these things now they can watch everything you do online. The best bet really is to make sure that if using Windows 10 turn as much off in the Privacy settings as you can and keep them all turned off everytime you boot your PC as they will force changes to those settings during new updates.

Terrible title and even worse article.
tl;dr - the particular VPNs listed in the article use Google's e-mail service for their business backend. That's it. The actual VPN service they provide isn't mentioned, nor any evidence of anything leaking. Scary title meant to drive traffic to their crappy blog and get some ad revenue and search engine placement.

There are ways around it and our fellow forum members don't need to be insulted.

It doesn't matter what OS you use, when you're using a service like Gmail, Yahoo or Outlook, they all scan emails and sell info to third parties. When an email enters one of their servers, it becomes their property and they can do anything they want with it.

Agree, the title should be reversed... emails leak info about your VPN. Since the issue is not really about the VPN, but the emails, it becomes a nit-packing issue since pretty much EVERYONE sells info... Emails, Windows, even facebook and Twitter. I was taling on FB about the benefits of a Keto diet, and wouldn't you know I get 2 emails to the email my FB is hooked up to about KETO... Phones are no better... Ask Google or Siri = receive spam... While the article is misleading, it's a good refresher on opening your eyes on how much privacy we DON'T have.
All I use my VPN for is hiding my IP from torrents, and switching countries when YouTube banns a video from the ones my server is currently located...
I guess this is a better lesson in not to trust everything you read...

I stopped using Chrome a week after I DL it because my mic and cam were turned on after I several times verified them turned off.
