Which was always unfortunate. Romero at least seemed very "c'est la vie" about it, but he missed out on a ton of money from that film. Though, it can be argued, that the movie wouldn't have been shown as much or seen by so many people if it hadn't been available in the public domain. At least it gave him a career, though he never did quite as many films as you'd think he should have done.
