I don’t know what just happened. I have happily used Utorrent for many years the same way. In my favorite torrent site I clicked “get this torrent”. A pop up box came up asking where to launch application and I would of course select Utorrent. Then I click “open link”. I would click over to Utorrent and my torrent was ready. I clicked OK at Utorrent and it would start to download. It worked great!
Unfortunately, I just updated to the paid version of Malwarebytes, and that program saw Utorrent as a problem. It actually deleted Utorrent. So I turned off Malwarebytes and again downloaded Utorrent. Now when I select open link to Utorrent I am somehow put into the chrome browser instead of the Utorrent interface. What happened?
I also now have an annoying black bar at the top of my screen asking me to search the web or type a URL. Do I have some kind of virus or malware? Can I make Utorrent work with Malwarebytes? Thank you to any who help!

You should have never subscribed to Malwarebytes that program has got to become bad news as of late. Probably the best suggestion is try and cancel it as soon as you can and get your money back. They have got really bad over these last many weeks. I'm even starting to wonder about actually having the free version now. Some weird stuff been going on with them they are doing things which I personally don't agree with. I would never give anybody any advice about subscribing to Malwarebytes, as well as being a waste of money because you are also allowing them to use the Premium features you are also using software which will block all kinds of torrent applications which is what they are doing.
If you want the free version fair enough then I would suggest to exclude certain programs like uTorrent and other things you might use and make sure the Premium features are all deactivated. Just watch out because if you've got passwords saved on your computer it's most likely Malwarebytes are wanting to snoop and steal your passwords so they can gain access into your personal web accounts.
I hope this post helps but please whatever you do, don't buy Malwarebytes, please either just use the free one or just get rid of it completely.

They used to be fine for ages, years they was okay. Had no problems at all but then one day they introduced that 'Free Trial' thing into the mix trying to confuse people. I guess it must have worked over a long period. It was annoying with them most probably the start of a bad situation especially if you're into downloading pirate material.

Thanks for your input, but what do I do now? From what you just said I will delete Malwarebytes, but how do I get this black band on top of the screen off? I think that program is the thing that is messing up everything else.

What I would suggest is try giving your machine a quick scan with AdWcleaner, yes it is a program that is operated by Malwarebytes but it didn't used to be but it's a different program and it should get rid of that problem. Also check and make sure that you've got no Toolbars added into your browsers, just simply look for Add-ons and make sure there's nothing there that shouldn't be.
Hopefully with a bit of luck AdWCleaner will help to remove this black bar thing.
Download AdWCleaner from here: https://toolslib.net/downloads/viewdownl...dwcleaner/

I deleted Malwarebytes, and the add ons put on my computer during the process of downloading Utorrent. However when I choose the link to Utorrent I am still directed to a browser instead of the utorrent app interface. What is going on?

#1. Install Firefox.
#2. SOP - install Adblocker, Ghostery, Noscript plugins for Firefox
#3. Google 'Magnet Links Firefox' and follow instructions for modifying About:Config. Will also work for Tor
#4. Do not ever let an AV corporation decide on what you can downoad. It will ALWAYS lead to undesirable results. They are trying to kill warez.
Use either a commandline scanner, or a Firewall. I have had pretty good results with PC Tools Firewall - but for some reason it *sometimes* blocks P2P sites. (Just turn off if it does)

strum: I hope you can get your money back on Malwarebytes, I'm not sure but do they have a cooling off period where you can get a refund if you don't like it?
I think that if you paid for Malwarebytes by using something like Paypal you could always go down the route by first contacting Malwarebytes and tell them you don't want it and see what happens drop them an email. Also I would strongly suggest that to get your money back you open a Paypal case and demand a refund. I would do that first and then see if you get a reply and at some point escalate the case.
The trouble is really it's just no good anymore, you won't be the only one I bet it's happened to loads of people. If you paid using a Credit Card then might be worth contacting the Credit Card company about it and tell them it's no good you want your money back and cancel all the services you have signed up for.
