Yes, people should take care of their own privacy - If they care, and most really don't see the need.
It's a paradox but privacy intrusion is a very private business, most people (me included) have no idea the lenghts it goes...

But what about my games? I need DirectX and those pesty MSVC dlls.
My favorite apps? I want my disk map utility, etc.
My damn themes and desktop gadgets?!!! I can't use a computer without those!

With the NSA, I doubt that any of those would make any difference.

Sounds like sad truth. But then, Trump signing wouldn't make a difference too.

Wow. So none of you understand what any of this means.

I'll try to explain again.

This is something that has been around for 10 years, and has nothing to do with TOR or linux or anything like that.

It is a U.S. method to spy on other countries, regarding terrorism, basically. I has nothing to do with anyone here in any way, unless you are terrorists.

Joe is in one of his "down" days...

First, who or what gives mandate to spy on others? And we know about abuses.

So other countries can tap on you just to check if you aren't a yoyo profanator, even if nothing, absolutely nothing remotely points to that.
Or can collect and cross-reference hundreds of thousands, millions of people randomly, to "find who are the suspects".

Some may call it "preventive investigation" but it is actually "monitoring", two different concepts. The last being a big brother thing.
I don't want it. Unless society as a whole is redefined, there will be always the abusive institutions and the moral-less, bullies and greedies to support them.

The monitoring of individuals is only another tool to shape us (school being the most well known).
We already have enough cheaper, easier, non-contributing, destructive solutions. We need positive, constructive, empowering, evolutionary methods!

Yup. ideally it's great. In practice it's a disaster. With destruction resulting from abuse. Trump never was electronically connected, so crooks can't get any Trump content to Photoshop. So Trump has it right for optimum privacy. Im the same way with no social media presence since Trump won. And people  can't seem to find me any more. Cops in particular. I like that side affect of cancel culture.
