Traditional vs. Blockchain Torrent

We've been using traditional torrent for several years, since the start of the torrent industry. And technology is evolving, and humans are key component behind this evolution. Does it make any difference when we now shift to Blockchain Torrent? Where file sharing (torrents publishing) is immutable, serverless and with coin economy. You can drop your opinions on this thread about this.

Be prepared to have 90% of the content be fakes, malware, spam, and child porn.

Distributed is definitely the way to go, but without a way to filter the garbage, it will be abandoned when it is near impossible to find the legitimate content.

In Blockchain space, coin is money, and with coin economy, it's hard to spam, since in a real sense it will cost coins to publish content(s), and the more one spam, the more use of his/her coins, so spam will feel it difficulty as long as coins are valuable.

We can not assume the content is bad, so that to censor content.  A high civilization need educated minds to decide what is good rather than rely central authority to decide. As long there are coins which are used to vote up/down and for commenting, then things will be regulated by themselves than exerting a force to regulate users.

At the time of discussion, there is a team of dedicated individuals who has thought to make Blockchain Torrent possible, and anyone interested, the team is ready to host your contents in the beginning, as you will have coins, then we can assess whether the coins will be in demand while the contents need to be published.

Blockchain plus torrent. How does that work? And what incentives do we have for publishing that a traditional torrent server does not have?

Because a technology is new, does not make it useful.

PAYING to upload or download, and have such payments on a database, where anyone with the right technology can trace uploaders and downloaders? Insane.

Bitcoin is wide open to the likes of the IRS, and Monero type encryption can simply be outlawed.

Plus, to add to what Moe said - whenever money gets involved with the Net the scene become rife with fraud. Cost? None at all for the scammers since they would be using pwned machines to do the payments.

Torrents has been really sucessful in the history, however due to its legal risk on the torrent tracker sites and low efficiency for unpopular files seeding, it is not really used in main stream.

Using blockchain consensus to replace the DHT in magnet or torrent file in uTorrent, people no longer need to searching for peers on the huge internet, but will find those info on blockchain.

A immediately usage is that, user will create own “file sharing blockchain”, upload own files through the app, the file could be as big as 100G as long as you can host it, then community members will be easily to find this hosting/seeding via blockchain, community members can decide to download/seed it.

Initially, all coins will be in the hands of admins and carefully being distributed to members, then when one need to publish they can use the coins, or if don't have they can request coins from you or other members who already have, or purchase it.

About tracing uploaders/download! All torrent users understand the how important is anonymity. The good thing is that, the solution has been found via the power of Blockchain. On top of that, contents once published will not be possible to be deleted, it is permanent, and users can neither be traced nor blocked.

I could publish a 4TB file as long as I've the hard drive, but uploading and the counterpart download would take long, practical matter is bandwidth.
Also can it be deleted if I'm the only seeder? Or such system will be like a cumulative backup (file history), growing exponentially?
Finally, there's nothing impossible to crack/trace, not in this universe.

I thought it's on blockchain? it's different from database.

The Blockchain system we refer isfully built with natural coin economy, different from traditional torrent. Here, it's true we have to change the way we perceive things. If everything can be seen as impossible, where is the freedom of using the internet? Along with all the explorations done, at least we can now think of torrent/magnetic publishing on Blockchain and make it really work. (We are only publishing magentic links, not hosting files)

Referring to your concern above,
No upload process required also fast speed for sharing, since all are on your local notes. so we can say any upload can take a second because no data consumed in this stage, you only need coins to upload contents. This is impressive and interesting, right?

Download speed is upon your connection and community seeders size, so yeah takes time for sure.

I agree, that nothing is impossible, but who is the real Satoshi?

So you propose decentralizing the torrent index network (by publishing the magnet links on a new, non-DHT network), while the actual storage and sharing will take place on the users' PCs and ISPs.
As I see it the main problem with file-sharing is the "dead torrent", a storage problem. People will have problems with hardware, viruses, or just want to clear up storage space for a new thing.
