Crowe is a one character actor. In those movies he plays the same macho garbage. And when he tries something different is ridiculous. Like in a beautiful mind, that won best picture no less, and it's atrocious.
American gangster or body of lies are just mediocre stuff that suit his alpha male impersonations.

Final Destination.
The original movie was good and original.
But did they have to make so many sequels about that one movie?

It's the kind of movie for which you should turn off your brain and just enjoy the stupidity of it, if you set yourself in that mood it's very relaxing and enjoying watching them all die
It's like the series of Friday the 13th, you don't mind commenting on it while watching and shouting fuck yeah because this movie wasn't meant to be an art like Shining or other masterpieces where every frame is like Mona Lisa painting.
Watching garbage like this can be fun with appropriate attitude

Are we talking overrated actors or movies? I can kill 2 birds with one stone. BUt first, I have to say that Crowe may be typecast, but he doesn't annoy me as much as he does you. He played Jor-El in the new Superman for god's sake. HE was a scientist, but yes, he was an alpha male. But he did a decent job.
Overrated movie (series): Twilight. Robert Pattinson AND Kristen Stewart are overrated. I don't see their careers going much further unless they resurrect the Twilight franchise. One word: BOOOORRRIIINNGGGG

lol @ American Gangster and Body of Lies being mediocre. Ridley Scott doesnt put out mediocre. And those weren't even "Crowe" movies, nor did he play 'macho garbage' in them... . And Crowe as John Nash was a great performance. Could you imagine douchebags like Mark Walhberg trying that? But I guess some people just have completely different tastes. Who do you consider great actors?

"Are we talking overrated actors or movies?"
In this thread we are talking overrated movies.
And we are definitely not talking about who we consider great actors, unless it is within the context of highly overrated movies they have appeared in.

As for my take...
Twilight? I don't think you can call that over-rated, in the sense that I don't think anyone other than a few tweenage girls rates it even above less-than-mediocre. I guess you could say they're over-rating it but who the fuck even listens to tweenage girls anyway, they're just annoying.
But The Dark Knight? That is highly rated yet it very nearly put me to sleep. I literally had to fight to keep my eyes open it was sohhhh boring and sooohhhhhhh long.
Even The Revenant wasn't as bad, though it was ridiculously implausible all the way through, and way too long. So a pretty and long serving but mediocre actor ate some raw liver? Big fucking deal. It wouldn't have affected the movie in the slightest if it been a raw steak, or even a cooked steak with a bit of sauce smeared on it. Of course that wouldn't have given them their excuse to start throwing out awards.
