The Trumpster Fire Chronicles: Paul Manafort

No collusion! Witch Hunt. Lol.

Quote:Comments by one of Mr. Mueller’s lead prosecutors, disclosed in a transcript of a closed-door hearing, suggest that the special counsel continues to pursue at least one theory: that starting while Russia was taking steps to bolster Mr. Trump’s candidacy, people in his orbit were discussing deals to end a dispute over Russia’s incursions into Ukraine and possibly give Moscow relief from economic sanctions imposed by the United States and its allies.

The theory was offered almost as an aside by the prosecutor, Andrew Weissmann, during a discussion of contacts between Mr. Trump’s former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and a longtime Russian associate, Konstantin V. Kilimnik, whom investigators have linked to Russian intelligence.

A closer look at the transcript, released late Thursday, shows that the prosecutors have been keenly focused on discussions the two men had about a plan to end the conflict that followed Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and annexation of Crimea in 2014. Persuading the United States to ease or end the American-led sanctions imposed to punish Moscow for its aggression has been a primary goal of Russian foreign policy.

According to the transcript, which was heavily redacted, Mr. Manafort and Mr. Kilimnik repeatedly communicated about a so-called peace plan for Ukraine starting in early August 2016, while Mr. Manafort was still running Mr. Trump’s campaign, and continuing into 2018, months after Mr. Manafort had been charged by the special counsel’s office with a litany of crimes related to his work in the country. The prosecutors claim that Mr. Manafort misled them about those talks and other interactions with Mr. Kilimnik.

Pressed by the judge at Monday’s hearing to say why Mr. Manafort’s alleged lies mattered, Mr. Weissmann gave a broad hint about the thrust of the investigation.

“This goes to the larger view of what we think is going on, and what we think is the motive here,” Mr. Weissmann said. “This goes, I think, very much to the heart of what the special counsel’s office is investigating.”

Mr. Weissmann did not elaborate. The hearing’s purpose was narrow — determining whether Mr. Manafort had breached his plea agreement by misleading the prosecutors about Mr. Kilimnik and other matters. Mr. Kilimnik was charged last June with conspiring with Mr. Manafort to obstruct justice by trying to shape the accounts of prospective witnesses in Mr. Manafort’s case.

Yet Mr. Weissmann’s cryptic comments suggest that the special counsel’s investigation — which Mr. Trump has sought to dismiss as a witch hunt and which the acting attorney general, Matthew G. Whitaker, has said will wrap up soon — is still pursuing the central question of whether there was some kind of deal between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Absolutely right, Mr. Whitaker!  The Mueller investigation has to wrap up soon, so the House Democrats can release the completed report that shows the Trump crime family's guilt.   Then the various committees need to speed up their own investigative efforts, so a long-overdue impeachment proceeding can begin!

It was a nonsensical witch hunt.

At no time in history has it ever been so necessary for nuclear powers to put aside differences and form alliances with each other. If chump had half a brain he'd be heavily investing in OBOR.

The Rooskie media made no bones about the fact that they preferred chump over the demonrats, especially as Hitlery was talking about a totally illegal 'no fly' zone in Syria that would have preciptiated a war between US and Russia. The Russiand and Iranians are official allies of the Syrians. We are their illegal occupiers, and enemies.

So to distract the public from the lunacy of the neocon wars the demonrats started the 'collusion' nonsense, which has pushed us closer to war, as the Asian [owers have been energized to ramp up defenses neutralizing our aerial superiority, which is the only real offensive we have.

No aerial superiority, no power, and the ultimate end on the petrodollar empire.

Oh, and lets set aside some issues:
Russia did NOT invade Crimea. It was ALWAYS Russian. Khruschev reassigned it as an adiministrative favor to flunkies in 1959 to Ukraine to welch out on a Stalin debt, and have the naval base generate revenues for his friends. Crimea has no Ukrainian culture or even language.

If you study history evenslightly you will see that Ukraine is divided by religion, language and alphabet. And tht for most of the past few hundred years Russia has encompassed even Poland. However culturally the Ukraine is divided: to the West by Polish/Ukrainian speaking Catholics, and to the East by Russian speaking Orthodox. Putin simply armed and allowed 'volunteer' troops to assist the Novorossians. Alot less evil than arming and sending in the CIA and illegal troops and creating ISIS like we did in Syria.

Russian bot says what? Seriously though, if Ukraine hadn't given up their nuclear weapons on the empty promise by the US/NATO to protect their borders from potential Russian aggression we wouldn't be here re: Crimea.

What 'Russian aggression"???????

It was Shakashvilli who attacked in Georgia because 2 regions wanted to stay *russian*.
And Putin stated right after the Nuland coup with the Nazis that he would do his best to protect ethnic Russians in the West. Ideally he would allow Novorossiya to join Russia, something he has denied despite their requests. And Poroshenko shelling their cities despite the international agreement.

Russia has shown absolutely nothing even remotely suggesting aggression, or even meddling, despite our history of aggressive war (the ULTIMATE crime) as well as regime changes.

I suppose you even believe the crap about the iranians being 'terrorists'?

Turn the TV off. And toss it out the window.
