The Internet Computer

Or "ChromeWeb" as I think of it. If you think Google and Facebook are bad, check it:
It's alive!

Dfinity has announced the launch of The Internet Computer, a token ICP, and a new identity solution.
Its ambitious plan is to transform the Internet into a giant, global computer with the use of smart contracts.

The Dfinity Foundation today announced the commercial launch of the Internet Computer. It has an ambitious goal: to become humanity’s primary compute platform for building the software—including decentralized versions of Linkedin, TikTok, and WhatsApp—that will change the way the world works.

After five years in development, and a $102 million raise from investors including Andreessen Horowitz and Polychain Capital, the much-anticipated project is finally launching, alongside a utility token, ICP—which will list directly on Coinbase, and an intriguing new identity solution.

In an exclusive interview ahead of the launch, founder Dominic (Dom) Williams told Decrypt about Dfinity’s ambitious plans to transform the Internet into a giant, global computer with the use of smart contracts, and how this decentralized system will take on the $370 billion cloud computing market—freeing the world of its dependence on centralized server farms.

Basically they will do a giant net of our computers (and logic presumes soon other devices too - cough, smartphones). Think Big Brother...

Maybe I am retarded (I read the entire article) but I am having trouble digesting what Dfinity or smart contracts actually is/are. More open internet? Looks like distributed cloud computing with crypto bubbles on top. A way of buying votes/influence? Sounds like a nightmare (a wet dream for some I guess). I dont think RMS would approve...

Its all technobabble to lure in venture (vulture) investors with more money than brains, and cash out bigtime on the IPO as well as their doggycoins.

If even the slightest bit real big tech and the Fed will buy up the shares and get control.

The Fed?
They are private bankers. With extreme levels of corporate control.

Think of it as the opposite of file sharing and folding at home, or just a better way to make money selling slices our processing capacity. Distributed Time Sharing at our expense. With lotta more room for tracking and monitoring... Then probably come super-smart-ads!

Smart contracts are simply programs stored on a blockchain that run when predetermined conditions are met. They typically are used to automate the execution of an agreement so that all participants can be immediately certain of the outcome, without any intermediary’s involvement or time loss. They can also automate a workflow, triggering the next action when conditions are met.

It's basically an EULA with automatic unattended "YES" click and run!

Newer CPUs have hidden cores that I'm certain the Cloud Masters will have full access to.

I'll stick with my C2D for now....

Oh:

Pray for our messiah RMS.

He was cancelled for our sins.

Will he arise again on the third update?

It's in the devices now, but at some point will be the devices in us. No Messiah will stop it.
