Reading the thread Make Pirate Bay Great Again, apparently "Winston lost interest."
Which looks to be, for practical purposes, Pirate Bay and related functionality is limited to pre-existing users.

if Winston really lost interest, TPB wouldn't exist by now. But its clearly still online, so either it's keeping itself alive or Winston's doing something still

Plus, it's been many a year since anyone has been able to add comments.  Also, TPB used to track upload/download stats for individual accounts.  Of course, this was in The Before Time in The Long, Long Ago when grups built and maintained the site with the aid of stone knives and bear skins.

Wish this was easier, I have been trying to log into my Pirate Bay account from another country for a long time.
