SuprBay: Optional Swear Filter

Can you PLEASE add an optional swear filter under the User CP? I'm getting tired of seeing people use the F-bomb and other harsh words in their posts. It would be as simple as checking a box that says "Filter bad language", or something like that.

You will have head over to http://community.mybb.com to suggest that. It's not a feature MyBB currently has. If you or someone else wants to write up a plugin that does it we'll consider installing it.

That ^ applies globally, which would be entirely inappropriate on a pirate forum.

I don't give a fuck about people typing the 6th, 21st, 3rd and 11th letter of the alphabet consecutively and I sure as hell wouldn't appreciate any systematic neutering of my opinions. Were anyone to attempt to do so (and I know the mods here wouldn't) I'd take it as a challenge to find a form of expression that a mindless filter wouldn't detect.

Pirates, in general, are not people to be fucked with, nor are they people who can't handle words.

The OP wanted an optional swear filter meaning he does not want you to be censored rather he/she would like to have the ability to optionally filter out swear words and really that does have merit given you might not always want swear words visible on your screen.

It does have merit. However until MyBB builds in this feature or a 3rd party creates an add on, it will not be available here.
