Hi,
I want to clean format a Dell PC at my workplace. The PC is Dell Optiplex 3010 pre-loaded with Windows 7. The problem is that DVD ROM (DVD Writer to be precise) is not able to boot the DVD. The DVD is original Dell Recovery Media of Windows 7 and works perfectly fine with other Dell PC's at my workplace.
At first I thought that DVD Writer is faulty but to my surprise I found that it is reading the same DVD perfectly when I am using it in My Computer (after booting into Windows 7).
The error message I get while trying to boot is somewhat like "Device has failed". At first I thought it was due to some BIOS setting, but I downloaded latest BIOS from Dell website and the firmware of the computer was updated with the latest BIOS without any problem.
So what is the problem? The DVD is bootable and works fine with other PCs. But this particular PC gives message of "device failed" while booting, and the same DVD is readable on the same computer after booting into Windows.
Please advise.
(P.S.: I have managed to format this PC using the recovery partitions and some help I found on internet by going into Recovery Options of Windows 7 by Pressing F8 and following few steps. But I want to erase everything on this computer once and then do a clean installation myself without any recovery partition and thus need to be able to boot from the DVD).
