Whether it's green/pink/rainbow skull the truth is you'll never know when a cracked software has spyware in it.

No. Not a fault.
Inexperience.
Scummers abound on the net. On usenet its 10x worse than here.
Rule of thumb for Apps is simple: ALWAYS parse the uploader's history. Usually the scummers are cancelled after about a week or two.
Run keygens in a sandbox. No need to write any files for them.
Patches do need to write files, so run *first* in sandbox and see of they create any entries outside of target directory.
If OK, then use on system.
Most AV programs will false flag keygens and patches. Its part of the korp war against us.
Look at the NAMES of what they are calling out.
If its something like Trojan.Generic.xhhhkr1233
It 99% harmless.
If its Trojan.Moofoo.var665
Or anything with a recgnizable name on it - its probably a real booger.
But always remember the quality boogers will not be found for at least 6 months, and the best ones will never be found by scanners.
LEARN YOUR SYSTEM. And then you can spot them quickly. And kill them.
Hint: Learn to use a Live boot dvd/usb to clean out anything on your system.
Rule of thumb for Videos is simpler: If it wants a codec, it is fake.
If its a .lnk file its a booger.

I'm following dauphong for some time and eventually flagged a couple uploads; he (they) upload a LOT and looks like an automated system, as that account gets way more material than normally possible for a single person to handle. But that's the thing, it's an uploader, not a cracker or repacker... They let things slip sometimes, it's too hard to extreme check and test everything; but they consistently keep their head above water.
It's how the skulls come, uploading frequently and consistently. Bringing fresh material and getting there first counts, so the hurry may lead to breaches.
If you're in doubt, copy the links but don't start downloading, give it a few days or a couple weeks. Then check on the torrent status, compare with others, test carefully.
