Share Your Cinavia Experiences

I'm looking to buy a Blu Ray player, from whom I'm not sure, and have been paranoid about the Cinavia business.

If you have downloaded a Blu Ray rip from here and found that it has Cinavia when played on the computer or the Blu Ray player, please do me a favour and report those experiences so I might be a smarter person.

Thanks.

i've downloaded and played countless cinavia-infected files and never had any playback issues.
devices used to play the files:
computer (mpc or wmp)
lg dvd player for sd encodes
asus o!play mini for hd encodes

Does "SD" (or, as I understand it, "standard definition") mean burning a downloaded Blu Ray rip to a DVD-5?

I burned a 1080p movie rip on a DVD-5 and it works great!

But is there anything else I should be on the lookout for when i do it again to another movie?

Thanks.

sd means resolution is no more than 720 px for width and 480/576 px height (ntsc/pal, respectively)
any bluray rip that doesn't exceed those values qualifies as sd encode

The only one I played on my PS3 and had the Cinavia warning every once in a while was American Hustle.
I downloaded a lot of movies and never had an "encounter" with Cinavia.

Was your PS3 "jailbroken" so as to not trigger the mechanism?

I had several Cinavia experiences with playback on my PS3 but then i bought a Sony HD TV and now i just transfer my files to a 64GB USB memory stick which plugs directly in a USB slot in the TV and all cinavia woes are history Smile

Bob, have you ever had any experiences with newer movies that are hd rips onto DVD players?

it's impossible to have any experiences with hd rips on dvd players since they're not designed to handle hd resolutions, and as such, they don't play hd files.
