Greetings, Traxians! This past Friday we released our first RiffTrax Movie featuring Dolph Lundgren. Some of the things we learned from this movie:

- The New York City Sanitation Dept. has an archaeologist on call

- Servants of the Devil can only inhabit the bodies of terrible actors

- You can set your movie in the winter but film in the summer if you just blame it on global warming! James Nguyen nods his head in silent approval.

Mike, Kevin, and Bill talk about this and much more in the latest episode of Talkin' RiffTrax!

Am I the only one who is sad they said a May 21 release for this riff with no results?

Also in the interview they mention they only did Wicker Man as a Nick Cage movie, but of course Mike did Next with the missus

Mike was resplendent with the Mads last  week, too. total shocker that one

Kevin Murphy here. We found ourselves in a conundrum about The Alien Dead. First of all, is it actually a movie? So let’s do a quick comparative thought experiment:  If you take yeast, water, salt, and flour, throw it in a Ziploc bag, and leave it on the porch for several days, then throw it in the oven - bag and all - until it becomes a laminated brick, can you call that bread? Or, say, if you smear a gallon of Prego on the counter, then pile noodles, meatballs, and that awful dried cheese that smells like dog feet on it all: can you call that spaghetti? Or food? Or any increment of decency?

I suppose you can, although I would not. Ultimately, this is the conundrum of The Alien Dead, a collection of people walking around, occasionally hunting for alligators, or swimming in fetid swamps, or ostensibly protecting-and-serving as officers of the law. Every now and again one or the other gets half-eaten by one or more zombies — not consistent zombies in looks, behavior, or provenance, mind you, but more randomly assembled and indifferently motivated.

So in the end, The Alien Dead is the Countertop Spaghetti of movies - not really a movie, not all that appetizing, but fun to watch as the disaster unfolds before your very eyes as your brain asks “Why? Why even?” And we’re there to watch the disaster with you. We’re the ones gobbling up that Countertop Spaghetti and asking for seconds.  That’s our job.

Buon appetito, friends.

Did anyone capture the watch along of Money Plane?

No, I ended up watching it, but it was already starting when I showed up and hadn't even considered recording it. I didn't think I was even going to have time to watch it at all.

That said, Erik was saying they're currently updating Scener so that there can be playback (like they did for Zach Snyder's watch-along party) where you can rewatch the stream at any time. He wasn't sure that'd be available for Money Plane, but it will be available in the future and they're planning on doing some watch-alongs with Bridget and Mary Jo soon. And Erik also said they might be replaying this one in the future, somehow.

It was amusing enough to hear the guys be mystified by the movie and talk about alligator-fucking for most of the film, but it was mostly just watching and making the occasional joke. More amusing than, say, one of the recent "Joel & friends" watch-alongs of MST3K episodes, but also not as funny as something like the Honest Trailers/Pitch Meeting of Money Plane.
