[Resolved] I can't post a comment on some torrents, but I can on others
#1
Hey mods, I seem to have an issue whereby I cannot post a comment on some torrents, but I can on others.

I've tried 3 browsers, a proxy and VPN, plus setting up a new account quickly to see if it was just my account, but still the issue persists.

The torrent I was trying to post on is this one: https://thepiratebay.org/torrent/8613445....x264-Grym

Any ideas??
Thanks

[Edit] - The issue is that I can see and click the Write comment and the submit button, it lets me type a comment, but when I click submit nothing happens. As said, I tried on 3 different browsers, a proxy and VPN, plus setting up a new account quickly, but the problem remained. I have also tried clearing the browser, cache, cookies... etc, but still nothing. No error, no page refresh, no... nothing. But on other torrents I can post a comment.

Sorry, I posted this while I was tired late last night, so I forgot the most important info (Derp).

[Update]

OK, weirdly it seems it was the length of my comment, which is strange as I've posted and seen comments much large than mine. Anyway, splitting my comment into 2 parts allowed me to post it with no issues. How strange.

So, case closed, all is fine now.

Have you tried clearing your cache?
I can, but didn't, leave a comment on that torrent.
I have noticed a few pages that seem to "forget" I'm logged in.
But that is rare, do you see the login button on the footer?
Or does it say logout?

[Update]

OK, this is weird, I just tried again this morning and this time I could post a small comment on that torrent. I just wrote; Test - which worked fine. But, when I type the message I actually want to post it fails every time. So, does this mean it's something within my comment that the site won't allow??
There are no links, so I'm not sure what the cause could be.

Do you use an adblocker or no script?
Submitting comments requires javascript.

System does have a spam filter, who knows whats in it, but usually it only blocks links
Could be something you typed was close to a word in the filter....
Not positive.

But glad it sorted itself

Yes, I can confirm there is some kind of character limitation in the comment feature.

I also had been unable to post a comment and likewise had tried three different browsers (IE, FF, and Chrome), and had tried clearing the cache on each of them. When that failed to work, I tried restarting the computer and going through it all again, with no success.

I came to the forum, found this post and went back and tried splitting up the comment, and lo and behold... it worked...!

The larger of the splits that was accepted was 605 characters (with spaces), so it will accept that many, if that might help others to know in the future.

I have the same problem.

I can't see how/where I can access the comments section for files on PirateBay so I can
add a comment. Even when I'm logged in I see no way of doing that. Bot of the files on
this URL: https://thepiratebay.org/search/KALA/0/99/300 don't work. The first one (a 2013
version of the software) has a virus in it, which luckily my virus software detected.

The second file is a 2016 version of the software which claims to have a working Key Generator
but when you enter it into the software it doesn't work.

I'd like to leave comments about this on the site to help someone else to save time downloading
the file. I wasted a bunch of time I wouldn't have had to if the comments were already there, or
better still, the files should just be removed from Piratebay.

Cheers,

DC

Second, you never want to run antivirus software on a torrent file you've just downloaded as they will nearly always throw up a "false positive" claiming viruses are present when none actually exist in the file.  Anti-virus and anti-malware applications long ago began including triggers to set them off whenever they detect certain file or folder names such as "crack" "keygen", etc. and will randomly name some supposed virus that can do untold damage to a users machine in an effort to stop sites like thepritatebay from distributing this software.

Understanding this, it should be easy to understand that the process to check torrent files for viruses should occur on the machine AFTER the torrent file has been INSTALLED on the machine.

The COMPLETE PROCESS TO TEST FOR A VIRUS IN ANY TORRENT DOWNLOADED APP is as follows -

1. Download application via torrent.

PRIOR TO INSTALLING TORRENT DOWNLOADED APPLICATION -

1. CREATE A RESTORE POINT
2. DISABLE YOUR ANTI-VIRUS OR ANTI-MALWARE PROGRAM

NOW -

1. Install the application and patch it, activate it, install serial #, etc.
2. Ensure app is working.

AFTER INSTALLING TORRENT DOWNLOADED APPLICATION -

1. Restart Anti-virus or Anti-Malware
2. NOW SCAN YOUR MACHINE.

IF A VIRUS IS ACTUALLY PRESENT -

1. USE SYSTEM RESTORE, to restore your machine back to a good healthy, previous state once again If you find the downloaded torrent files actually contained some kind of bad destructive stuff,

AFTER INSTALLATION IS COMPLETED AND **PROPERLY** SCANNED

1. POST A COMMENT letting others know the app was found to be good AFTER IT WAS INSTALLED,  or if a nasty critter was found  AFTER SCANNING THE MACHINE AFTER THE INSTALL.
