But when I search it just puts a ? graphic and stops functioning. I left it 1/2 hour but nothing. This is with the simplest and most common search terms too.

Can you open an issue on GitHub? When you open the issue try to run the app from terminal and grab the errors if there's any.

I would really appreciate if a Mac dev can dig deep into this issue. Unfortunately i don't own a Mac. So really hard for me to do tests via a VM.  Undecided

Absolutely brilliant sir. I subscribed to your YouTube channel and would like to donate, any other mechanisms aside from virtual-money? Paypal? Funding-sites?

Hi,
I'm no mac dev, but this looks wrong:
Mac console Wrote:objc[6429]: Class FIFinderSyncExtensionHost is implemented in both /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FinderKit.framework/Versions/A/FinderKit (0x7fff864b3c90) and /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/FileProvider.framework/OverrideBundles/FinderSyncCollaborationFileProviderOverride.bundle/Contents/MacOS/FinderSyncCollaborationFileProviderOverride (0x1103d9cd8). One of the two will be used. Which one is undefined.

^ one definition will overwrite the other, depending on order while compiling - there should be only one global function declaration.

... something else:

please have a look at this:

and vote against censorship, thanks

Hi @BigNoise,

This issue is raised via Chromium engine AKA Electron in this case. This was recently reported here on NW.js as well which also use a pre-compiled build of Chromium to run the application. According to my observations this occurs from the Electron file system used in both Main and Renderer processes (used for open/save dialogs and asar processing). Electron is running its own copy of Node.js which is a bit old. So unfortunately there is pretty much nothing we could do to solve this. All we can do is keep updating the Electron dependency till this get fixed at some point. FYI it's not an error. It's just a warning. So it won't break any functionality of the application or the OS. Thank you for reporting this.

Hi TechTac, thank you, this looks like a useful tool.

Do you yet have a hardware requirement?  I'm using vbox with linux64 and ~ half the resources of a Gen2 i3 w/ 8GB RAM system.  It is very slow search for a 4 letter word (100% CPU (two of the four)) and I thought I had the same issue as you mac with the endless search.

Then I tried to open the dump.csv in LibreCalc and that took four minutes with page too many lines error, but it finally opened and I did find what I was searching for.  Again, back to OffLineBay crunches the search icon for over five minutes and I close using the Linux menu bar-close window option because there is no way to exit through the app.

So I thought maybe I have file load problem.  I opened  the OffLineBay and let it sit for ten minutes without use.  Then I ran my query, and found a result of eight items within 30 seconds.  Maybe that issue is resolved.

Issue:  the dump file seems/is several weeks old.  This being the case, if I do not have a very recent aged dump, I won't use this app/tool/system of searching when away from network, or TPB is down, etc. because this is just make work that I will have to do over when the most recent version of TPB is up.  I will just do what I always do and make a list for when back up.  So there's that. Big Grin

Thanks again for a great app, 0zzy

Hello Ozzy,

Problem here could be that Electron uses GPU rendering to render the HTML content which your VM might fail to provide. I have tested on multiple Linux VMs with very low resources and they worked flawlessly. In fact it performed almost similar to my high spec PC. Very little latency. Didn't hog the resources either. As far as i can tell, i did my best in optimizing the code. But the GUI had some poor rendering because of the GPU requirement.

One thing you could try for the GPU issue is the steps i mentioned in post #26. You can go ahead and try it if you're interested.

For the practical usage of the program, i did my best around what TPB devs are providing. OfflineBay was meant to be running WHILE TBP IS ALIVE so users will have the latest data when TPB is down. Only workaround other than that is a mirror. I'm having a hard time wondering why most of the people can't understand this. There's not a single feature i could add to make it more easy for the users. I even opened up the opportunity to run mirrors. But if users are expecting me to run mirrors and do everything by myself, i can't even see why people harassed me to go open source with this. I might even regret doing this in the first place. It's already so disappointing to me looking at the really poor community involvement in the project compared to the harassment i received for making the v1 closed source. My contribution to the project stops with the coding. I drew the line there because i have risked myself enough for this. Unlike any other devs here, i'm not anonymous. Google, Twitter and many other big corporations knows who i am. So this's my side of the story.  Undecided

Thank you for the appreciation and reporting this. It might help a lot other people. Cheers.
