Recommend any good RPGs that require 2 GB or lower of memory?
#1
Hello, I'm an avid gamer, and I'm looking for RPGs to sink my time into.

The trouble is, my PC is five or six years old, and as such, only games that require 2 GB of memory (at the most) can run smoothly on it.

So, if anyone could recommend any good/great/excellent RPGs that require 2 GB (or lower) to run smoothly, that'd be very much appreciated.

If you're into really old stuff, I would recommend the Ultima series, Dune I, or even King's Quest.

If you like hacking and slashing enemies, Diablo II is my recommendation.

If you want to explore emulators, get Visual Boy Advance (Gameboy, Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy Colour), ZSNES (SNES), or FCE Ultra (NES).

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with console emulators as I think most of the best RPG franchises came from the consoles one form or another. Zelda and Final Fantasy springs into mind.

Hope this helps.

Baldur's Gate!!! Baldur's Gate II!!!!

Icewind Dale!! Icewind Dale II!!!

Torment!!!

Seriously, those are the best RPG's ever made. Memory has nothing to do with it, though you can run all of those with 2 GB.

Also the first 2 Fallout games. And one most people don't know of, but is fantastic, and nearly as good as the Baldur's Gate games is Arcanum. I love Arcanum. I've played it at least 10 times through. It's awesome.

He's right about Planescape: Torment. It doesn't get any better than that.

Though you might want to look into Darklands. Great game.

And for a much later one with low reqs, consider King of Dragon Pass. More of a strategy/RPG/sim title, but fantastically deep.

Wow guys, got my interest piqued too!

Thanks to joew771 and Philidor.

EDIT: To the OP: if you want to play your RPGs online, at least the ones for PCs, go here: https://pirates-forum.org/Thread-Playing...s%2bonline

It may not work for every game you play, but it's worth a look.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the replies, I'll try some of these out.

What about 3D games? I've head good things about the Gothic series, and about Morrowind.

There was a game that utilised the Doom engine, it's called Strife.

If you don't mind, please tell us your system specifications. I know it's none of our businesses, but it would help a lot.

I thought you have only 2GBs of RAM.

That's a big jump.

EDIT: If you have a kickass system like that, I don't think you need to worry about finding games that will run on a 2GB system.

I meant no disrespect, but you have nothing to lose with modern RPGs.

If you so desire, you can run a PS2 emulator. Those sons of bitches can run Final Fantasy. See if that's our passion.

No, you don't understand. I don't know the details, but I only have about 4.37 GB of physical memory running right now, and if I play something that requires at least 4 GB, that game slows down.
