Political Party - What's yours, why, and how did you get there?
#1
I'm curious as to the political viewpoints, principles and values held by other technology geeks, both here in the United States and abroad, and how you arrived at your beliefs and party system?

This is a thread for productive, engaging interactive discussion. It's not a thread for name calling, angry hatred, or even really trying to make convert eachother's viewpoints. Rather it's a thread to challenge eachothers political belief systems to see if they sink or swim and if they are able to back up what they say with legetitmate eveidence.

I'll go first Big GrinBig Grin

I am conservative.

Based on the eviidense of the past 3000 years, I've concluded that societies who practice fiscal and social conservativisim are statiscally the most:
  • Successful in life, family, and career
  • Happy
  • Loving
  • Charitable

I am a socialist, I guess, although I think that there is no such thing as a perfect party.

From what I learned from Karl Marx and Canada's New Democrat Party, the NDP, it is our duty to provide for the weakest members of society and to bridge the gap between poverty and the rich.

This is also why I like TPB. The four guys who ran it did not have to do this for us, but they did.

I happen to be barely above the poverty line in Canada because of socialist services that were provided by others, through schools, libraries, and universal health care. These would not be possible without the contributions of Karl Marx and Tommy Douglas, and they didn't think about themselves when adding their minds to their efforts. Paying taxes may be a bitch, but I know that if no one does it, then there would be no society, let alone a Canada that I am proud to live in. It's just too damn unfortunate that not everyone supports this theory. For those who don't, however, it's all right. Ideas like this in a social-democratic world don't seek those who don't agree out in the middle of the night. I am grateful for living in a system that leaves no one behind.

Sorry if I appear to rant, I just came home from doing errands.

Thank you.

"My" party? None for me, thanks! I think I'll stick to thinking for myself and avoid boasting about reaching success by treading on other people's corpses.

I have no political party, and I refuse to participate in the rigged sham called "elections." Voting is consent, and I do not consent.

Things may be different elsewhere, but this is true in America.

Which societies, specifically, were the most "loving", 3000 years ago, according to the "eviidense"? Which societies of that time were the least loving? What policies in those societies were more or less fiscally and socially conservative? How were those societies judged as being more or less "loving"?

Where is this "eviidense" which you have allegedly based your conclusions upon?

Or are you just making this shit up?
