PRIVATE LAN GAMES

Try the Reloaded version, not the Skidrow version.

I don't want to argue with you.

And we are slipping away from the original topic.

But just before that, I would say; you said bought, not pirated.

Fair enough.

Sorry if I seem to be too defensive. It's just that I could have worn that the Reloaded description promises "offline multiplayer;" it so blatantly specified "offline multiplayer."

Maybe I acted inappropriately, but if so, I'm sorry.

Let's continue where we left off before this sleigh ride began.

hamster69, a word of advice: if you have Windows 7 and having trouble running Windows LAN games that use IPX, try IPX wrappers. They are located here: http://www.solemnwarning.net/post/81

Just one more thing: if you're going to use those, make sure that the Windows 7 machine and a Windows XP machine both have it in their respective game directories despite the fact that Windows XP already supports the IPX protocol.

I think even Windows 10 would not be immune to this.

Remember what I told you: unzip the IPX wrappers to the participating systems, be it Windows 10 or Windows XP. As long as there is one computer that is above Windows XP, you will have to do what I tell you.

Hope it helps and come back to tell me of the results. Smile

Well, you can actually play Starcraft-Wings of Liberty and Heart of the Swarm over Lan using Starfriend, http://battle4sc2.com/.

The Starfriend project has met an untimely end due to the lack of permissions on the moderator's part to clean up the forum.

Now, that forum is littered with spam and there's nothing that the remaining staff can do about it.

Thanks for sharing anyways.

EDIT: There might be some Starfriend torrents in The Pirate Bay though.

It seems that LAN gaming is a lost art, but I'm glad that someone would care about it enough to start a thread.

I will help you with whatever resources available.

Lost art? Come back when we can play Split screen on PC again Tongue

Also, I am pretty sure SC2 requires Battle.net for anything other than single player. Are you maybe confusing it with SC1?

Not with a client called Starfriend. Go here: www.battle4sc2.com

After some time, the forum which distributes the client was abandoned, so the best bet right now is an outdated Wings of Liberty version that will install when you have Wings of Liberty set.

Later versions have Heart of the Swarm.

If you want to use this with your retail copies it will work. However, you can also use it to play with a "Starter Edition" and configure the client with that.

I don't have all the answers as I didn't design this thing; the original version was from a group of Russian/Chinese hackers.

When playing, you don't need a Battle.net key; you just need to have Starfriend.

Go to www.battle4sc2.com and read about it. I think it's still up.
