PPIR8 2 PIR8.1
#1
Hi!

I've been trying to upgrade my windows 8 pro (pirated) to 8.1 with the torrent named 'Windows_8_1_Professional_x64_IE11_Nov2013' but after running the setup file from the DVD I burnt it says 'Setup has failed to validate the product key'.

Does anyone know how to solve this? If you do please let me knowExclamation

It might be worth noting that the update doesn't show up in the Windows Store for me hence the reason I torrented it.

You don't need to tell us your copy is pirated; we all know why we're here. Smile

Have you tried another torrent, or are they all like that? My advice would be to do a fresh install, if that is sound.

Na haven't tried any others yet. You mean a fresh instal of W8? I can't actually do anything with the 8.1 DVD. It shows me that message straight after the UI loads.

Torrent titles aren't unique, so posting a link to the page you downloaded the torrent from will ensure that we really do know what you're referring to.

You don't need a fresh install. But if it's possible it's always the easiest option.

Here's the link:

So you mean re-install W8 Pro, don't activate it, update to 8.1 then activate?

3. Now you should the see update notification message in Windows store.

Doesn't work Sad

The WinStore opens but there's no sign of any update, not in the top right at least.

It's still the same issue dude. I'm stuck on step 2. Where can I get a 'generic' key?
