What is your favorite Olympic event?
Are you a Summer or winter fan?
Tell me why you like what you like.
I'll go first.
Of course I love weightlifting , I was a 20 year lifter so I appreciate the hardwork that goes into it.
I also enjoy wrestling, the greco roman style. I'm not a team sports olympian, since I believe the medal you earn is yours. HOWEVER, I really got turned onto womans soccer. Brazil vs China was my first futbol / soccer match I watched IN ITS ENTIRETY.
I , yesterday, was watching men's gymnastics. The physical capabilities these people posses (women too).
The men's gymnastics, I saw China win over (either Ukraine or GB) but .9999999 of a point. SO FUCKING CLOSE.
People would say they'd rather lose by a lot than that little of a margin, not me... If I was 2nd place I'd say, Fuck it, the 1st placer almost didn't beat me.
This is the 1st year I watched the Olympics.
All comments are welcome.

I prefer the Winter Olympics. It's nearly impossible to watch the Olympics in the US though because the NBC coverage is utterly infantile.
Curling is cool af.

Curling intrigues me. it seems like a LOT of hard work to get the stone (I had to look that up) in the proper area. Curling is like shuffleboard on steroids if my mind picture is correct....

I enjoy watching almost all sports, except probably equestrian sport which I've never been able to understand. Not a big fan of swimming and water sports too.
A No to archery, shooting, swimming, water sports, tennis, wrestling, boxing.
A Yes to athletics, gymnastics, volleyball, table tennis.
A maybe to hockey and football.
I watched a few boxing matches. These guys take swipes nowadays and looks like head protection gear (?) is optional.
weightlifting only for fun
Not much into winter sports.

I think that in either Olympic event, there is too much commercialism to fit my taste.
There is too much pressure that there's no joy of actually doing your best. It's you have to win or we suck. Competition is good, but if you're going to hold a gun to your head and pull the trigger after a loss, then we need to change.
I hope they'll be mindful of that.

The gymnastics... holy crap that is a craft that takes years of dedication. the skill that must be preserved. I know I'm posting drunk but it's phenomenal to watch these people hone their craft!!! i give two thumbs up!
commercialism is everywhere. there is no escape. Commercialism is what turned me into a Under armor purchaser inclusively. I waited the commercials and got the products. . I've got Under Armour hats, shirts, and shoes. I used to be a Nike bitch, but until something comes along that I like, I won't change.I go with what I like. , Somehow , UA has got my attention.
