Not quite a riff from the Coen brothers
#1
I've got a DVD of the Coen brothers neo-noir Blood Simple with a rather unusual commentary track. The Coens scripted an entire commentary delivered by British actor Jim Piddick (various Christopher Guest movies) as a fake film historian dryly delivering made-up trivia about the movie, such as the opening scene had to be filmed backwards and upside down to create the right visual effect and this was very tough on the actors. It's not a riff exactly, but it is very funny and I thought it might be of interest here. Anyway, I pulled the commentary from my DVD and attached it to a HD file pulled from a Criterion blu ray. Subs and chapter headings are also included.

This, Schizopolis (Soderbergh interviewing Soderbergh), and Bubba Ho-Tep (The King) are probably my top three favorite comedic commentaries. Cannibal! and Spinal Tap could possibly round out a top five. Thanks for the upgrade!

If anyone has rips with these commentaries that would be awesome!

I have (or can make) all of those except Schizopolis. Don't know when I can have those up, though. Might not be for several days.

If need be, I can hunt down my copies (one of my HDDs) but they are all shabby SD rips from when I just discovered HandBrake. If nothing else, the commentaries can be salvaged as was done here. Might be a while, though. I'm out of town right now, without my HDDs.

Just discovered the Schizopolis commentary on YouTube, it's low quality video and without any movie sound.

I'd advise watching the movie alone first, as it's one of my favorites. Criterion Collection, no less.

And here is the Cannibal! drunk commentary.

This channel is amazing. Clever naming to hide from The Algorithm. Now I know where my time is going for a while.

I remember a friend buying this DVD when it came out and being disgusted with the commentary track. I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a joke.
