Newbie needs help, please!

Hi there,

I'm pretty new to the understanding of all things torrent-related, and up until now, I have relied on my own intelligence to figure most things out.

Most of my downloads (movies) work perfectly through VLC player, I've never had an issue, this also includes a few tv series, also played successfully through VLC.
That is until yesterday when I downloaded a triple season set (GOT) from
http://http://thepiratebay.se/torrent/90..._BDRip_TSV.

This is a great download, but I get to some eps and it will either a) freeze on a frame whilst the sound continues without a hitch (in which case I tend to stop and try it again, but nothing happens) or b) will play for the first few mins and then will skip 5 or ten minute blocks. I have tried to seek the chapters manually, but that doesn't help. I have also received an error message about seeking not working and something about creating an index file??

Can anyone please offer any advice as to whether I am doing things correctly, as a lot of the info on files looks like gibberish to an uneducated-in-torrent-speak girl like myself, and if I have missed anything?
Apologies for the huge post, cheers in advance for any help/info offered.
Have an awesome day!! Rolleyes Heart

The file(s) are most likely corrupt.I have had the same issue a few times with "Vlc".

Try re-downloading from another source or you can try using a different player and see if it works

FFS, what complete and utter bollocks. Three VIPs/Trusteds misleading a newbie and pouring shit on another uploader when they know damn well it's unjustified. [And if they don't know, they don't deserve skulls.] Heads up people: that's the sort of maliciousness that costs the fuckwits who indulge in it their skulls. Do NOT make a habit of it.

The torrent is from an experienced VIP uploader and it has been on the system for three months, with thousands of downloads and multiple comments--NONE of them suggesting the files are corrupt. It is almost certainly perfectly OK. It almost certainly does not require re-downloading again, or fixing anything.

Owlie81, if you want to confirm that the files have not been corrupted while they have been on your PC, you can re-open the torrent file in your torrent client, right-click on it, and select Force Recheck. Once it is finished (it will take around 5 minutes at a guess) if that shows they are 100% then you can be pretty damn sure they're fine. If it shows less than 100%, just start the torrent and let it complete the stuff missing. Once the files 100%, try playing them in VLC again. It might work.

If it doesn't, try playing them in Windows Media Player (trying to be non-technical, it plays files in a different way, so if there is a problem with VLC it may not happen with WMP). WMP might not be able to play the files at all, but post back here if that happens because it just means you need to install a new "codec" which is quick and easy to do. You could also try copying them to an external hard drive or usb stick and playing them on another computer.
