Any generic controller should work fine, especially for pirated content. Not all games have controller support, and some controllers have different button mapping (I have xbox and playstation designs, both have xbox style key configs). Get whatever you can afford and find comfortable.

I should have said this earlier, but I have an original XBOX controller that I use for arcade emulation.
Hope we haven't strayed too far off course.
OP, do you have any more questions?

Bought an Xbox one controller and it's working great. Another question please. My laptop only has 1tb and it's quickly filling up with most games over 50gb. Once games are installed that I downland from here, do I need to keep all the files that came with the games?

That would be recommended, so yes.
Keep everything. If you delete a file on the directory which you pointed the installer into, the game will not run properly.
Is that what you're referring to?

Since the op's problem was solved maybe this is a bit redundant, but for PC controllers, if you are using windows you can pretty much use any xbox controller without any issues. But if you are using a generic controller you need to get 'Xbox360ce' which is an emulator, that lets you use most any controller in Windows. It takes a bit of setup, but once you get it configured properly you can use most any controller you want.
