Hey guys,
I bought a computer from a friend and for some reason it wont let me visit TPB. I've never owned a Mac before but videos will show that most people are still able to get to the website. Is there something i have to disable first? I've literally spent hours trying to figure it out, but nothing.
The page says: The webpage at https://thepiratebay.se/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.
I've also tried: https://thepiratebay.mn/
https://thepiratebay.gd/
https://thepiratebay.la/
https://thepiratebay.vg/
https://thepiratebay.org/ gave me a different message however. It says that the webpage was rejected and the server refused the connection. So I'm guessing theres something in my Google Chrome or Safari settings that I have to change?
I've used TPB for years on different computers and never had this issue, I'd appreciate if any of you can shed some light.
Much Love.

Hey Hank Hill,
Sorry about the inconvenience. For Safari, you (might) have to configure the network settings, in order to be able to access TPB.
Here is a tutorial of how to do it.
If it fails, then try with the Tor Browser.
EDIT: Do you have a proxy/vpn set up?

I have gotten the video tutorial method to work, however:
1. Only the basic white screen + Links show up on TPB website while using anonymouse. (not a huge deal)
2. When I click "Get this torrent", it takes me to the anonymouse page and says " ERROR- Anonymouse does not support this kind of link.
I have not tried a proxy/vpn setup but i will give Tor a shot right now and get back to you.
Thank you for your response!
EDIT: GRRR, I'm using Mac 10.5 and I guess it requires 10.6+ for TOR.
I plan on updating soon but I cant seem to figure it out for myself, I', going to have someone help me.

You have to set your browser to automatically open magnet links via a torrent client. I don't know if there is a terminal in Mac, but for Linux you just have to run a few commands.
See if you can change settings inside your browser's options.
EDIT: What's your default torrent client? Some clients allow for you to accept magnet links, but have it off by default. Switch it on and reboot your browser.

I've been using Vuze. I'll try to see if I am able to change my browser settings.

Try these steps also
1) Ctrl-click (or right-click) on the .torrent file in Finder and select Get Info menu option
2) In the resulting window expand the Open with: field, select the dropdown and choose Other...
3) Browse to Applications folder and select Vuze app from the list, make sure Always Open With checkbox is checked, and then hit the Add button
4) Be sure to hit the Change All... button when back in the Info window and confirm by hitting Continue
Note: If you have other BitTorrent clients, make sure to restart them to turn off their torrent file associations.

I apologize but I can only get as far as step 2. I opened the "Get Info" from Vuze but I'm not sure where I "Field, select the dropdown and choose Other"...
It only gives me a drop down for spotlight comments, general, more info, name and extension, etc.
I apologize if I'm being a noob but this is difficult for me. I appreciate all of your help, Joker.

Its no problem
I suggest using a different torrent client in the meantime until you upgrade. You should go ahead and check out Deluge.
In addition of trying a new torrent client, you should also try a new browser (Firefox, Opera, Torch, Camino, etc.)
