My vpn, isp, and a issue
#1
first off my setup:

I use VPN4ALL I like that I can pay via bitcoins, have tons of options on where I can appear to be from, and the guys are pretty cool... they also keep no logs and are offshore, which is a must for me as I value my privacy... somewhat costly but not horribly so....only problem I have is follows...

I use one of the worst ISPs in the US, they dont only adhere to the 6 strikes your out rule that comcast and such uses, they go for a 3 strike rule... only ISP in the nation that does I think... They also have DPI ability and are general asses all around, and unfortunately unless I move I am stuck with em.

Now for the problem...
Lately my ISP has been scaring me a little, I somehow, amazingly, seem to have ISP connectivity problems when I turn on my VPN, its not the vpn its the ISP, I think they are trying to kick me out of my VPN so they can see what it is Im doing. The problem is VPN4all locks out internet when DCd for 2 minutes.... then it gives up and I go back to regular non vpn traffic.... which if my ISP decided to cut me out for more then 2 min while Im asleep I would be screwed. So Im trying to figure out some options.

My first question... Is there a way to set up a computer to ONLY allow traffic through a VPN, if theres a connectivity issue then it simply wont transmit data until the VPN connection is reestablished?

2.) as far as my research has gone VPN4all is among the best options, do you agree?

3.) I was also considering getting a seedbox... do you know any truly anon seedboxes... as in no records of me other then some number, allow bitcoin payment for privacy... and that I could connect to them via vpn and dl my files ... the fact that my isp actively uses deep packet inspection bothers me and I take my privacy seriously.

4.) ya any advice I should have that I didn't think to ask Smile

Thanks, Im willing to pay so it doesn't need to be free services... I just really want to keep myself private, I really hate copyright infingement notices Smile

Is Charter Communications available where you are. I believe they aren't apart of the whole six strikes ordeal.

I'm sorry to hear that. Is your ISP AT&T by chance? If so I'd recommend using Private Internet Access. I'd recommend Private Internet Access even if you don't use AT&T. If you do so use the DNS Leak Protection which can be found in the advanced menu. I'd ask your current VPN for a full refund.

I'd ask your current VPN for a full refund. Try using Private Internet Access with DNS Leak Protection.

If you are on Windows, you can set up firewall rules to only allow your torrent client to use the VPN. That is how I have mine set up and if the VPN drops out, uTorrent stops completely. Once the VPN starts back up, uTorrent starts back up. I can't seem to find my link to exactly how I did it but I am sure that a little google time and you can find a way. Basically your primary internet connection is one network and the VPN is a different one. You set up incoming and outgoing rules for your torrent clilent to only allow it on the VPN. No VPN is 100 percent reliable no matter what their sales force says. Lock it up in your firewall and you should be just fine...

This feature has nothing to do with the conversation. DNS "leak protection" just makes sure that DNS lookups are routed through the VPN when it is active. Nothing more.

An alternative to setting up firewall rules is the Vuze client, which has the ability to bind to the VPN interface. If the VPN interface is not up, it will wait patiently for it to return before resuming.

Thanks, Ill look into vuze Smile the more I google the more I realize I was no where close to the security I could have if I was smart lol...

A couple of questions though, I was looking at the server listed above, private internet access... I noticed not only do they have leak protection which isint something that would help me in this exact situation, they also have protection from drops... not sure how the version they have works but was curious if anyone has any experience with them

How do they compare to VPN4all... they are definitly cheaper and have a lot less servers then vpn4all but just curious what everyone thinks of em.

Also torrent boxes... does any know of any reasonable priced ones that will work with public trackers? and that will let you sign up anonymously via bitcoin etc.

Id go private trackers, but obviously most the good ones are taken and sometimes you just need piratebay lol

Thanks again Smile

It's fine dude. I'm going to compare some of the features VPN4all and PIA have. I'll reply to this message again with some of the differences.

I believe you're talking about seedboxes. I'll provide you with a list of seedbox providers that you can use.
