My friend got a call from their ISP.

She received a call from her ISP regarding downloading music, telling her to stop downloading, delete her torrent client and delete any materials she has downloaded.
We share the same ISP, named Armstrong One Wire, located in Western Pennsylvania. I verified it did come from her ISP and not some other nonsense.
She wants to know if she should be worried.
She downloads with utorrent, and only uses tpb for downloads.
I download around 150gb of movies and music monthly, so this strikes me as being strange. There has been a lot of change in the company in recent months though, including a bandwidth usage cap and various other internet service changes.

Thanks guys.

the only thing I can think of is that someone tracked her IP... i'd stay low for about 3 months then start up again... I only download about 30 GB of stuff a month or less usually but i also share 5x what I download also so... I'd guess a company traced the IP to her and called it in...

Use a VPN. It's a horrible idea to torrent without a VPN. VPNs prevent copyright trolls from being able to see your IP address. I'd recommend Private Internet Access since it's only $39.95/year. Other VPNs will cost you a lot more and will probably cost you twice as much. I'd also try using IPredator. The service worked good for the month that I bought. IPredator is probably the best VPN available for torrenting.

tell your friend that she ruined a golden opportunity to complain about the lack of speed and customer service that her isp is currently providing. other than that, tell her to ignore the phone call (if there really was one) and to enjoy herself and download as much as she wants... especially porn... clown porn.

If she downloads porn, she wouldn't be much of a girlfriend, wouldn't she? Smile

if she wants to continue with that bullshit ISP better use VPN or seedbox
my way: cancel right away contract with a simple phone call.
i did that once just because the ISP i was using was throttling my speed...Angry
goshhh, unless she lives in Antarctic, she probably must have 2 or 3 choices

I would love to have a girlfriend that had a healthy porn habit. It would reduce the need for foreplay.

So far I have never had a problem with my ISP, but I live in the Philippines were they will only get concerned if they think they can makke money off me in extortion. I do use a ISP blocker on occassion, but mainly so I can watch streams from the states not allowed in the Philippines, IE. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hula Plus.
