Whoopsies, lol. I was wondering how long that would last.
Glad to know I'm not the only one here who's been side-eying this dumpster fire.
Honestly, the remastered stuff that our community puts together here is far more appealing.

For MST3K live, both Jonah and Joel riff along with the bots. I thought 4 riffers might be too much, but on the previous tour it was great. Probably better than the netflix stuff!

I guess I'm in the camp that any MST3K is better than no MST3K. Did it come close to the original? No, but who in their right mind would have had that expectation?
Did the new cast knock my socks off? No, but I don't really have specific criticisms of them either. It was the right move. The cameos were nice, but I think it might've come off a little sad if they had the old cast do the heavy lifting.
I don't really grok the Joel hate, but to each his own. I agree that the too-polished look was a slight turn-off.
I think the riffs for Avalanche, Carnival Magic and Mac & Me were really damn funny by any standards. And sorry to the iRiff fans out there but if this MST was only half as good as the original, that still makes it miles better than 95% of the other groups I've tried watching.

You can't find the quality of writing, and the personality of the riffers, of the "new" MST3K anywhere else ~ but in a basket of dirty wet gym socks. MST3K should have just been left alone. Now it's tainted forever.

I guess I'm in the minority here? I didn't realize people hated The Return so much. I've been watching MST3K since I was a boy in 1993, and I find something to love in every episode, no matter who is hosting (OK, except Hamlet...). The cast was really starting to grow on me; Jonah was probably the strongest member, and I expect he'll do some good work in the future. The cancellation is a damn shame. Average-quality MST3K is still a damn sight better than most other comedy shows.

@ Everyone,
I think the problem is that MST3K is very estoteric. IDK if i have said this before or not , when i show MST3K to my "Younger" Friends and Family (ages 13-37) there LOST --- they don't get the jokes or the references (minus reference to own show).
I can see why it got axed .......... My mother who introducted me to alot of the Films that would later be Riffted on MST3K and i inturn turned her onto MST3K & Rifftraxs, shes still a fan of Original MST3K & Rifftrax (hell she even likes some of the iRiff ones) but the "NEW" MST3K she hated from the start. She said I expected MORE. I have to say she hit the nail on the head.
After Thinking about this post and things in "HOLLYWOOD" I have come to a conclusion
SOMETIMES YOU JUST CAN'T DO A REMAKE (& have the same magic)
Do you think they could REMAKE BATMAN 66 ?? and not do it in the Vain of ADAM WEST ???
Just my thoughts,
Shibby

Yeah, I like the reboot too. And while I respect the opinions of the haters, at the same time, I am appalled by the unnecessary hatred towards the show and towards Joel. MST3K was NOT tainted, it got two memorable seasons.

You're not, most people I've heard from seem to enjoy it, if not as much. It seems to be mostly here that I read many negative opinions

did anyone think this years turkey day marathon was a bit meh? I tuned in for Space Mutiny and bowed out after to watch some of my own collection, I kinda feel like with these tours they've stretched themselves.

Mix some pills and booze, put on the Pluto MST3K channel, and imagine everything is new.

This is pretty much my take. I liked both seasons and Jonah was excellent. I saw the MST3K reunion show live and by the end of the night I was confident that he was going to be a good lead for the reboot.
The only one of the lot I didn't like was Mac & Me and that was not due to the quality of the riff but the movie it self being so punishingly awful that it was pissing me off.
My favorite was Carnival Magic which somehow is one of the less popular ones.
I hope they find a different home for it and keep going.
