Keeping media in storage places
#1
My friend is going to another country for an indefinite amount of time to tend to family issues and he asked me if keeping his DVDs in storage rooms would kill his discs and tapes with dust.

Would it?

Its also heard this is possible but not likely.

Ive had lots of dvds laying around for years (without case) and they still work fine.

Why would you store discs without the covers? If is has a cover how can it get dusty?

It weren't dvd's with important Data. i do store my data on an external hard drive. it were movies and a hirens boot cd. Just saying dust wont kill disks. and like KingFish stated cd/dvd's with a cover wont get dusty.

I have accumulated many DVD cylinders, you know, those ones that package the DVDs in the store before they are bought. I'm planning to give some to the dude. Would that help?
