Is there enough demand for...?

Is there enough demand from the community (besides myself) for V4 uploads? So far the upload thread is G3 only, hopefully I'm not the only one still using V4.

V4 is how old? Get with the times man! Hehe no but seriously. I'm fairly new to the whole daz/poser scene and I don't really understand why people still use V4? What's so good about it? G3 seems superior in every way if you have the basic morphs and what not~

Oh, who cares how old, how sophisticated, how technologically advanced. The figures might evolve, but there is a huge catalog of V4 stuff, especially for those who have been around since before Genesis of any generation. Upload whatever you want, the worst thing that can happen is no one downloads it, which I am sure will not be the case.

I still use V4 and have a ton of stuff for her. Might be a good idea.

This, in various forms, is a frequently asked question on torrent sites in general, which is why I've split it out to a dedicated thread (and pinned it for a while). /Mod

The answer is "it's irrelevant". For two reasons.

1. The number of people who reply to questions on this forum is only a fraction of the number of people who read this forum AND the number of people who read this forum is only a very VERY tiny fraction of the number of people who download torrents.

2. It's not just about "the now". By coincidence, literally yesterday I rediscovered some torrents I uploaded 11 years ago (on a different site). To my pleasant surprise they're still being seeded. Not by me, I haven't even thought about them in years and have long since lost the files. But obviously people have been downloading in a steady trickle for over a decade.

If you have something to share that isn't out there, share it. There are around 500 million downloaders at present, and that number increases each year. At least one person is bound to want it.

And worst case? If nobody...ever...downloads your torrent file? Then it hasn't cost you anything anyway. [But it will still give you the satisfaction of learning how to do something new (if you haven't ever uploaded before) and of doing something for the community even if they failed to appreciate it.]

I have a huge library of Victoria 4 stuff and had used the model almost exclusively since I started back in 2014. I just recently started to use G3F/V7 only because of the new gens genital prop available through Renderotica. (What. Don't give me that look!) I was willing to sacrifice an entire archive of Victoria 4 content for a genital prop that actually looked and functioned properly without having to bang your head against the wall (looking at you, lali's bits). Yet I don't have to completely abandon my Victoria 4 content because of all the add-ons available for G3F such as the Legacy UVs, GenX2 and DAZ's built in autofit system, and now I've gotten confirmation from the creator of the new gens that they are working on Victoria 4 UV support for the genital prop so all is right in my small little world.

I guess what I'm saying is. Upload all the Victoria 4 stuff you want, I, and I'm sure many others will find a use for it.

I try to avoid v4 characters (too old) but most v4 items can be used with current models.

V4 is still insanely popular and most of the stuff fits right onto Genesis 2, so I'm pretty sure there's a demand for it.

And what huge and massive amount of experience do you have to base this sweeping, all inclusive statement on kid?  Go spend a lifetime in the graphic arts industry and over a decade doing 3D on a professional level for a real live company before you spout unsubstantiated opinions.  You're 'fairly new' to the scene...so do what a newbie should do, sit in the corner, shut the fuck up, and listen and learn from the more experienced people.

Freddyboy5150,
Please post your generous heart out.  Vicky four is an excellent and well supported platform that enjoys a large and enthusiastic user base.  Keep your eye on zonegfx and skyback as there seems to be a Vicky Four revival going on there.
Thanks for making the offer too.

Jesus Christ, seriously? Someone sounds like they need a nap. He was responding to a question with his opinion. He then asked why anyone would still be using V4 and rather than explain why you tell him to "do what a newbie should do, sit in the corner, shut the fuck up, and listen and learn from the more experienced people."

With an attitude like that why dont YOU sit in the corner, shut the fuck up and learn how to be a respectful human being, you grumpy prick.
