Is there a way to download high def from youtube?

Every browser plugin and every video downloader which I have blocks me at 480p. 

******  IT'S A VERRIFIED BLOCKING ****   The videos are available in higher definitions but I'm not able to download them.

I'm working on a project for a blog full of OLD French films.  Sadly, all the french torrent /pirate sites are garbage.  They only carry Hollywood movies with french voice over or subs.

it is use command line. after download yt-dlp.exe, run cmd and type:

that will download video in 720p.

if you want others video size, check available format with:

Its a long time since last used command line parameters and they don't fit well my modern, mouse-centric style.

see the second column there you can choose the resolution in which you will download

if it doesn't work for you
then you have something wrongly set in your system

If youtube (or any other site) is blocking you from downloading, just record your screen with sound using whatever screen recorder you like.

On linux I use "SimpleScreenRecorder", just remember to set recording to the desired quality as well.

For comfort use virtual machine so you can do other things on your host machine while you are recording the vid.
You can also turn off screen saver / energy savings and system sounds / popups just to be safe (shouldn't be a problem in full screen mode).

BTW, you can use multiple virtual machines to record different videos at the same time, if you've got enough resources.

If you can watch in HD, you can download in HD
Try typing two letters ss in the taskbar after www.
instead:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kt5ClSI7wUA

enter:

https://www.ssyoutube.com/watch?v=Kt5ClSI7wUA

and see if you can download 720p

look for a videodownloader program on the Internet

try to update your yt-dlp.exe. sometimes it fixing downloading problem.
