I would definitely want to see that happen.

cheers to that! I love Billy Connolly.

I think if the right movie was riffed, with some sort of sport theme to it, Bob Costas can be amazingly funny, when given the right angle.

Aside from that, I have to back up some of my cohorts picks. I've already responded with somebody's surprisingly excellent pick of Billy Connolly, but I also have to agree with Richard Ayoade, Dylan Moran, Pete Davidson....

and Michael Che.. (who spent all of a week as a daily show correspondent before being swept into the SNL weekend update spot)

I would go out of my way, (and totally go buy/donate with rt) these would all be excellent *Excellent* picks for guest spots

fun question, thanks for asking.
It's tough to say. For example, on paper I'd take Weird Al over Neil Patrick Harris: but I much preferred the Charles and the Confection Facility Riff.

Matt Besser who folks may know from the Upright Citizens Brigade or his podcast Improv for Humans.

Trey Parker.

Phil Hartman.

I thought Fred Willard was great in Missle, rip.

Edit: Maria Bamford would be great too.

Another Weird Al riff would be nice. Also Lewis Lovhaug, Mel Brooks, Conan O'Brien, Justin Roiland, Paget Brewster, Jon Stewart, Alex Hirsch, Phelan Porteus and Allison Pregler

Also agree with as99 that PFT would be great. Maybe even a riff of Magnolia or There Will Be Blood, a couple of his starring roles.

None of the usual riffers, just Gilbert Gottfried and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog.

that's an interesting point, a guest that is also a star in the role offers so much unique fun to it; but I can also see the argument for it being a detractor.

For example, I think Ryan Reynolds would fun for something light hearted like "free guy" but would be too heavily invested for a guest if they did "deadpool".

What does anyone else think?

As a team? Sublime. The absolute pinnacle of riffing team choices...for me to poop on!
No really, this is brilliant.

A fascinating question, and thank you for asking it!  Answer: I think it’d be different depending on the work-experience RE satire for any actor, male or female.  If the actor’s work had involved satire beforehand (as in Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein), then I think it could work.  Same with Tina Fey whom made-her-bones mocking nightly-news then became a hit mocking one of the biggest TV channels/production-companies in history.  Same with Lovitz.  But people whom have been funny *only* because they had the right script & director and needed “guidance” at every step?  No.  Ted Danson can be a hilarious comedic "actor", but he-himself said "I'm not funny, the scripts I'm given are funny."

Gilbert Gottfried, Maria Bamford, and Lovitz. Imagine it. A bit of script, and being given room for improv-moments.

Imagine it.
