I need video editing/splicing software for Windows
#1
I've been downloading a lot of content using PlayOn. It includes what they call a "watermark" (it's more like a splash screen with my name, email, and IP address) at the beginning and end of each video. Some videos also have ads that are often (but sometimes not) marked with chapters. I need a program that can cut the ends off, and allow me to select portions of the video to cut out, without having to save the video into separate file portions.

Unfortunately, I recently did a format/reinstall of Windows, so I can't tell you what all that I've tried, but I can tell you that I've already tried LosslessCut, which wasn't very good.

I've got about 540 episodes to process so far, so the key here to find something (anything?) that is going to help me process these files faster.

I haven't tried this but it says it is lossless editor.

There are newer versions uploaded but not from "trusted" sources although I am not afraid of uploads from the volume crack uploaders like cracksmin and cracksnow.  I stay away from anything uploaded in the last few days.

This site is good for finding and evaluating software like this:

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure it's quite what I've been looking for.

After a lot of searching, I found something called MCEBuddy, which uses a combination of software to achieve what I've been looking for. Best of all, it has automatic commercial detection and removal. Though, I have to tune it, and I don't quite fully trust it yet.

Looks like something you have to pay for but maybe it's worth it if it saves you a lot of time.  I haven't bought any software since the last millennium.

No, it's free. You have to pay for premium access to the latest versions, which has more features, but the free one is still pretty feature packed. The best feature (or really the only worthwhile feature) for premium access is the ability use EDL marker files instead of Comskip. I went ahead and dropped $30 for that to support the developer, just because it looks like something I would make myself, if I had the time and patience.

Where do the EDL marker files come from?  Don't you still have to comskip to make them?

It has an option to have Comskip generate them, but it also comes with a mini side application to make them. So far, it lacks a frame-by-frame option, so I went ahead and made my own.

The EDL files are pretty simple, and in plain text. Each line takes a start (for where to begin cutting) in milliseconds, an end in milliseconds, and an action, which is always 0 to remove the scene.
