I did a google search and found this. Hope it works for you

To transfer audiobooks from your computer to your Kindle Paperwhite, follow these steps:
  1. Format compatibility: Ensure your audiobook files are in a compatible format, such as MP3. If your files are in a different format, you may need to convert them before transferring.
  2. Connect your Kindle Paperwhite to your computer: Use the included USB cable to connect your Kindle Paperwhite to your computer. Your Kindle will appear as a removable drive on your computer.
  3. Create a folder on your Kindle: Create a new folder on your Kindle’s “Documents” section to store your audiobooks. You can do this by navigating to the “Documents” folder on your Kindle and selecting “New Folder” (or “Create Folder” on some devices).
  4. Transfer audiobook files: Drag and drop your MP3 audiobook files from your computer into the newly created folder on your Kindle Paperwhite. Make sure to transfer the files directly to the “Documents” folder, as files in the root drive may not appear on your Kindle’s Home screen.
  5. Eject your Kindle: Before unplugging the USB cable, make sure to eject your Kindle from your computer. This ensures the files are properly transferred and your Kindle is safely disconnected.

I don’t understand I did all that and I don’t see it on my Kindle but when hooked up to my laptop it shows the mp3 file in the document section

I would have thought it needs a third party application to do the correct transfer similar to iphones needing itunes. But I'm not a book reader so I don't know and don't own one so I'm just speculating... Also there could be some kind of security measures in the settings perhaps? Show hidden files, allow files from an unknown source? Anything like this that may be restricting the file being seen? Again speculation but it's usually something simple.

I don’t see a setting like that meaning Show hidden files or allow files from an unknown source on my Kindle Paperwhite

Have you tried the file without the folder just simply dropping it into where your books are? You could also check storage before and after you add the file. If it's taking storage then file must be there somewhere. I'm just thinking maybe it's not registering the folder but I did read something on reddit that said it wasn't possible to add your own audiobooks and they had to be from audible directly. This may be incorrect (as I say I dont have one) I'm just guessing.

I don’t know because another person on a different forum said the Audiobook has to be converted to AAX and I don’t know what program to get to convert from MP3 to AAX

What file are you trying to convert? I'll grab it and see if I can find a way to convert it
