Up until about 2012 I would reinstall Windows every 8 or 9 months or so, because computers tend to get much slower before that point. From 2012, I haven't "reinstalled" perse. I have changed hardware, upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 (and many features updates after that), but I have not had a "clean" Windows since about 2012 on my main computer. Heck I've even changed Motherboard, CPU and memory at one time (from different chipsets) and I havent had to reinstall Windows.

Mostly because I'm lazy and I dont think a 45 seconds boot is THAT long

Yeah and it comes with free malware and spyware to track everything you do and send it to Redmond.

You imply not only the boot but general performance; I suppose your main computer is used for interactive tasks (such as browsing or gamming) that aren't affected by severe slow-downs. But 45" boot would be solved with hibernation plus a weekly cleaning / cold boot.

I suppose Redmond's guile could think of "smart" uses for a sandbox and microcode / managed code. I don't trust their hidden agenda doctrine.
