GTA San Andreas crashes way too often on Android.

Was it just me or is anyone else getting hiccups with this game on Mediatek devices? Tried every single version of the game and all I get is either crashing just after the first few minutes i.e. the intro cutscene, or in the case of 1.05, I can play to an extent, but it crashes to home screen randomly.
