Hints on storage management?

Ah, that's a shame.

As you've got the 1TB and 4TB drives, and around 1TB of files, can you put the 4TB in your machine and use the 1TB in the caddy as backup? If not, Google Drive may be a plan. It's got 15GB storage for free, and if your videos are 1080 or less, you get unlimited storage though Google Photos. Might be risky putting up movies though.

If you just want to organise the files on the drive though, you can either split them between folders or partitions. Share the folders through Windows, and Kodi should be able to pick them up too. My TV collection is bigger than my drives, so I've got TV and Old TV, and they're both set up under TV Shows through Kodi. As far as the Kodi menu is concerned, they're all in the same place.

Sorry if I'm telling you what you already know. It's strange starting out on a new forum, as you don't know what anyone else knows yet Big Grin

No problem, it is just how it works. Thanks for your time, we never know when, or where from, an idea can pop up.
The caddy is coming soon; Internet storage is a no-go for me due very low bandwidth (4Mbit), and privacy concerns. Wink

dueda, have you tried Micro-SD storage?

Just stabbing for ideas in the dark.

Next, let's try 5.25 floppies. Tongue

My note has a card slot, but it is limited to FAT32 (which, non-coincidentally, meas 32GB max).
Problem is those cards are said not to be made for intense use like torrenting, thus being short-lived.
And some games are over 30 or even 60GB, that would be a problem with a 29GB free area in the card.

So, I'm going to use the 500GB external disk for temp space, the 1TB goes into a caddy, and the 4TB external will be library.

About floppies (and the not-so-floppy 3.5" ones), I can't find a good 8" 4MB drive and neither the media; 5.25" 360KB-720KB-1.2MB units are easier; but the most common 3.5" 1.44-2MB units are plenty, just not worth it for the obviously low capacity and ridicule access times. And they aren't shareable.

Now, before you ask, I considered the MO units too; 256MB 3.5"s and also the MD format. Sorry, first is out of shelves for decades and latter has residual problems when re-written. The only alternative seems to be the IBM's quantum spherical 3D storage prototype, from which I haven't hear for long.

Now, before you go onto tape drives and punched cards, could I suggest we stick to this century? And no metaphisics or indigenous drums, too!
