Hi guys,
I've an issue ATM with a HDD that has been throwing up a BSOD recently when i was shutting the PC down. The BSOD flashed up too quickly for me to read the error report so i backed everything up and re-installed Win 7 x64bit.
During the final stage of the install i got an error which said words to the effect "Windows failed to install updates". The PC did this twice, looped and then booted up as normal.
Finally when it logged me on, i install all updates, .NET, Drivers etc. Now when i turn the PC off, just before it switches off i get a new BSOD saying whats outlined below. I need to do a hard shutdown to switch the PC off from the BSOD screen. Any suggestions:
Code: ***Hardware Malfunction
Call Your Hardware Vendor For Support
NMI: Parity/Check Memory Parity Error
***The System Has Halted***

I have no real "solution", but here are great places to start.
Start here, or you can try this too.
Hope this helps.

Run memtest. If you have 2 ram sticks, try removing one and seeing if error continues. If yes, try taking out the other one instead.
What's your install source?

Win 7 Ultimate x64bit. 4GB RAM (4x1 GB sticks).
I'll run memtest and re-post ASAP.

Most probable reasons are faulty memory chips ,hard disk data corruption which may be due to software or hardware malfunction and any other non compatible component including graphics cards etc... so you need to check it all one by one .Try to run memory test and check BIOS for any temperature variations , you can also use AIDA extreme software. It will help you to find current system temperatures by using some hardware sensors.Try to reset BIOS once or load optimal BIOS settings.

I'll run memtest and re-post ASAP. Don't know where you live, but with the sales in the US now, you can grab a 8gb stick for $50.

Update: Ran MEMTEST last night and nothing out of the ordinary showing up. Swapped out RAM sticks and still no issue. I'm thinking now it's either the HDD or BIOS/CMOS.

Any SMART data on HDD?
Use SpeedFan or smartmontools or HDTune ( http://www.hdtune.com/files/hdtune_255.exe )
