Just went to the library and got season 1 of Game of Thrones.
Just started to watch the first episode, "Winter is Coming." First impressions, I don't know what to make of it, it just doesn't stand out.
I want to like it, and I booked for that DVD set for over three months. I still can't do it.
Any suggestions?

I think you of all people would love GoT the most. It may seem a bit "plain" in the beginning but trust me, it gets a whole lot better in the next few episodes. Just give it another go, I hope you get hooked to it by the time season 6 comes out next year.

I get where you're coming from, entirely. I watched the first season in 2012 and couldn't do it. Now it's one of my favorite shows.
Like other members said, stick it out for a bit. The first season is just setting everything up.

I'll try to get back to it.
But now, which episodes turned the tide of your enjoyment so I know where to begin watching?

you really can't just start watching it from a certain point in the series, that's like watching Star Wars Episode 7 without having watched the trilogy
i suppose you can start off post-season 2-3ish, if you know the basic plot then you can just skip s01
shit got really good after the battle at king's landing (imo)

Asked Melisandre to revive KAT. The Lord of Light will do it, just wait.
The soundtracks for season 6 is my favorite of all the seasons. Ramin Djawadi is an amazing composer that just keeps making good shit
The Hound has the greatest lines, lol. Was happy to see him back in the show. Also makes us see more of The Brotherhood... I wonder if it would be too late to introduce Lady Stoneheart
