Function keys not working...
#1
So, they used to work on my laptop, all I'd have to do is just hit F2 or F3 to adjust the brightness, F6, F7, & F8 for volume 9, 10, & 11 for the music player, and 12 for WI-FI. Now I can't do that. I've used the FN key and then pressed down the other ones, and that doesn't work either. I have no function lock key on the keyboard, and I've looked in the Bios, and it's enabled. I've looked under the settings, and I can't seem to find anything with these keys. Come to think of it, I believe it started after windows 10 got is recent update... but I don't want to a recovery just for that. Any other suggestions? Thanks!

You need an application specific to the laptop for function keys to function, check on your laptops driver update page for one that works with Win 10 or see if Windows Update will give you anything if you let it search for other software.

Check your BIOS settings, sometimes its configuration is included in it.

easiest would to say what kind of laptop/keyboard you use. Some of them require you to install the separately in a specific fashion

I tried to update the drivers, and that didn't work. I did notice that when I'm online, I can use them for searching (F3), and entering/exiting full screen (F11), so I know the keys work. But I just can't get the alternate functions to work.

I'm using the windows 10, 64-bit, i5-5200U (if t hat helps in anyway).

F keys are multiple use, your browsers using them for different things and your laptop knows what program has focus, what laptop make and model is it?

No, you dont, you provided manufacturer (which is HP), then processor (i5-5200U) and architecture (?) (64-bit). Model refers to type of laptop, e.g. chromebook 14. In windows 10 (which I assume you use) you can determine model by accessing: settings->system->information. The model is just below "Windows 10" and above computer name. Hope that helps and I am not incorrect (in any particular information, feel free to correct me).

Right under where it says Windows 10, it says Version 1703.
