I recently watched Mercenaries (2014) and wanted to smash my head against the wall, repeatedly, all night long, for picking such a stinker. I downloaded it without knowing it was a female version of The Expendables, and like that series of movies, none (and I really do mean none) of the cast can act, virtually the whole cast resembled vintage leather handbags, and watching it became a game of 'spot the actor whose forehead actually moves.' The plot was formulaic, predictable and was only interesting in that the movie demonised 2 different countries of Central Asia as backwards, refering to one as 'Shitholeistan.' Expect more of the Central Asia bullshit to come over the years.

The Counselor (2013)

I thought the movie was decent and worth the watch if you like organized crime films. It did fall tremendously short of the hype from the trailers and publicity; sad since it was directed by "Ridley Scott", a legend who may be beginning to lose his touch.

The pace of this movie is just painfully slow, and the characters always seemed to be talking in metaphors and riddles. Nevertheless, this film gruesomely highlights the "reality" of the drug trade, greed and the consequences and dangers that come along with it for all parties involved (directly or indirectly). The acting from Michael Fassbender was solid.

Just remember, in the drug trade, the cops aren't the only ones you have to worry about!
