I'm used to read the same criticism about them over an over again: the lack of torrents on piratebay, the lack of "comunities" in the forum. The obvious answer is just too obvious, almost futile: upload the torrents, create the threads,  all that things are done by users. It's absurd to criticise that others don't do something, when you don't do it yourself.
I think those critics are not constructive, because if they were, the answer would be so obvious that the mere question would look stupid. Do it yourself and share something and don't complain about what others don't do.

I agree with this, but there is nothing like having a cool sounding host name that lasts Smile

But yea ... it is the users, the consciousness of the community where things happen

I thoroughly agree: any file sharing community is only as productive, helpful, and communicative as the people involved. Which is why I've already started up a thread for my downloads--which, yeah, Sid, I should have doubled here when I began posting on KAT!--and taking part in a few threads.

I do have a couple of questions, though, which maybe you or any other veteran here can answer. Does TPB provide blog space to individual users? And is there any way to create private and public groups?

They were features at KAT. And if you don't offer them...? It's not a big deal. We wouldn't be criticizing their absence, but I'm sure other KAT folks like myself want to take full advantage of all you provide. We just don't know the full layout yet, and there's an adjustment time in any new relationship. Even platonic ones.

Yes we need poetry blogs and pictures of kittens like on the "blogs" on kat. /sarcasm

The blog system on kat was a complete joke, every other blog that had anything real to say was censored. Be glad that's not replicated here. Private groups are basically a circle jerk, also unnecessary.

I agree that swearing and the like all being censored by rules was a bit rough, I am sure those above had their reasons ... though to me if you don't the content of a thread get the fuck out! Smile

[This is one of those "Duh" questions...] Is there a particular IP address you could enter instead of kat.cr [for example] in order to reach the site?

I'm not talking about swearing, that's the least of it.  You couldn't post a blog that addressed a controversial issue like gun violence without getting the comments locked and your blog deleted.  They were afraid of speech and afraid of debate.  It was like kindergarten.

I'm thinking less poetry and fewer kittens. More along the lines of one time a frantic blogger from India was overseas, and his parents lived in a village that was nearly all washed away. He was seeking comfort from his KAT friends through a blog, while wishing for the best. And the best way to deal with the poetry and kitten blogs I've found to ignore them, while dealing with the others. I hope you wouldn't object to that, but of course, each to their own.

Private groups are, in my opinion, what you make of them. Just like private clubs with special interests they don't want to share. If some folks want to talk about their religious or political preferences without having outside interference from people who are rude and aggressive and think everybody should feel about everything like them, giving the private types the space to speak their own minds doesn't seem so much a circle jerk to me, as a respect for being themselves.

Thanks for your enthusiastic response, in any case.

You must not have had any of your blogs removed out of spite.
