Fist off I dislike MP3 in favor of FLAC/ALAC. Most are unaware that MP3 is limited to 50 Hz to 15 KHz while FLAC/ALAC can reach above 18KHz but the distortion level tends to rise which has led to some study to reduce that. Oversampling of CD Audio was the first attempt to get better sound. Then single bit with a low pass filter was used. Today basic CUE/BIN and CUE/FLAC are fine for those burning CDR media but for those with iTunes etc CDR is small vs hard disk or NAS box.

A 16 disk 4U NAS box with 24TB hard disks can handle a lot of music. Reality is that multiple NAS boxes are needed to store every song out there. The 16 disk NAS has the advantage of front mounted hard disks which make it much less problematic swapping out disks when new capacity disks surface. Each 42U standard racks can hold a lot of NAS servers. Apple evidently has some 100 million songs for sale; so at 40 megabytes each that is a lot of disks needed in lossless. Probably need a very large data center.

I use a laptop and a large M.2 SSD so I can wander around as a seed box. The machine is rather generic and perfect as a stealth seed box. More laptops can be equipped with large SSD and join in on P2P seeding. Internet speeds are all over the dial but my machine can sometimes connect to faster connections here and there. For the most part, faster internet has little impact for downloads or uploads. The average speed is rather dismal as the number of seeds is so few lately. Another problem is that fear mongering means many leeches are hit and run, which means fewer seeds.

I am using Tixati which seems to be the best torrent client available. The UI is better as the old µtorrent was adware and was spreading malware. Tribbler is a good idea but it needs NAT transversal as most ipv4 user use large class A subnets. Transmission needs a lot of work on it.

AX WiFi cards can easily handle 256 connections so I run by machine like that and typically I see maybe 500 peers most of the time. There are more out there but 500 are typically on the radar trading pieces on my peer offerings. The new BE standard is a warmed over AX but it can also handle 256 connections making all of my torrents live to download.

Now that's what I call music with the latest volume to 2024

I also collect 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection. This is a FLAC pack with one MP3 and one APE format while the rest are FLAC. I seem to be the only seed most of the time.

This MP3 bundle has pretty much all known 20th Century Masters - The Millennium Collection. The MP3 are evidently all 320kbps.

I will post more as I get around to it. Trying to get Bubanee's Billboard collection but this has been glacial at best. Some other box sets ae equally slow but once I get them done downloading I can post more magnets. I can get the some lists for Billboard so I might make a set over time on a folder and then when its done I can post it.

Been hunting for Grammy Nominees with the odd MP3 but no FLAC or ALAC lossless on several sites I looked on. I have 2014 in my iTunes library but I know the series goes back to 1995 but these days slim pickings is getting real lean. Some audio is stuck at 99% which means a waiting game.

Some time ago Gold 2CD was in the market about the same time as 20th Century Masters in music stores. The 20th Century Master boxes were all different which suggested the publisher was aiming at large scale collectors. I have some of the Gold 2CD but I am not at all sure how many exist.

More posts will be here as I get them downloaded. Lots of slow downloads. Make sure you use encryption all the time to prevent privacy violations. Where I live the Privacy Act can scare off trolls easily as encrypted messages that are decrypted violate the act. I do not even need evidence to make such a claim.

All my posts are seeded, mostly by me alone so I may be offline as I use a laptop and a stealthy front for torrents. Old laptops can often have better WiFi cards installed along with giant SATA or M.2 SSD as needed. Such machines can then be used as a seed box at coffee shops or libraries etc. Even more fun is that drive by P2P is another option pirates can adopt.

USB sticks are cheaper but they are so slow. USB-C boxes for SATA SSD are cheap and now M.2 NVMe are widely available so its possible to add storage to a laptop when the internal SSD(s) are full.

Bought some USB boxes for high capacity disks, so in time I may be able to offer more content as 12TB and14TB hard disks are cheap enough for sharing content.

My seed box may be migrated to another machine with more capacity into next year. For the time being laptop I use has a 2TB SSD and while larger ones are getting cheaper, the 2TB offerings are still the sweet spot. If I get a different machine for seeding I may use a larger capacity M.2 SSD.

Right now I have a 12TB hard disk but I am awaiting a USB box for it.  I also bought some USB expander cables to be able to attach more storage here and there. I am finding 12TB to be cheaper per TB than larger disks. Still trying to find USB-C without a extra PSU as US power delivery can easily supply the power for a NAS let along a single disk.

Torrent blocking is a growing menace and while efforts to get around the blocking with DHT etc it is still a lot of trouble for P2P sharing.

Getting around some blocking needs to change network settings to use custom DNS instead of the defaults. I suggest 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 which are used by Google and they block nothing I have tried.

It seems many ISP DNS servers are now being gimicked by Sandvine and other countermeasures. This alternate DNS can get around most blocking,

Some file corruption has causes some problems so I am downloading stuff fresh as I migrated to large capacity hard disks instead of local SSD hosting.

Some torrents above may be slow to recover.

Got a new machine but it only has 1TB M.2 SSD so I am using various USB boxes which have torrents. As I get more disks I will be better off. The new machine is 13th gen INtel so it has 6 GHz support but such hotspots are still rare.

Once the 5 disk box surfaces I will be able to have a lot of storage for music galore. The 5 disk box is < $100 and supports 2.5" and 3,5" SATA hard disks and SSD.

I have accumulated some of the many 100 hit collections so I might make a bundle out them all. I use iTunes so use foobar2000 if FLAC is unsuitable. On Apple rigs X Lossless Decoder is available for conversions. Linux can fend for themselves.

I have tried various tags to no avail, simply cut and paste the link into your torrent client.

A bizarre message in my torrent logs: error: Offline (Metadata not supported)  Unix uses the number of  seconds fro Unix uses the number of seconds from 1/1/70 for its timer.  That is 4 billion seconds. Today mainframe and PC alike have adopted 64-bit so seconds would be 64-bit which would be 18 exabillion. m 1/1/70 for its timer.  That is 4 billion seconds.
