Definitely check out their live show if they ever get around to touring again. I saw them a couple of times in Portland a decade ago and they put a ton of effort into their show, well worth it.

I've seen them live a few times, but nothing will ever beat the first time when they got stopped at the US/Canada border coming into Montreal because of copyright complaints against them. Instead of cancelling the show, they rented a motel room near the Quebec border and Skyped their live elements (kinda like the host segments from MST3K) from there, lending a very creepy Lynchian quality to the showing of their film.

Not only do I need to thank you for introducing Rarelust to me (I had a couple sites like this in the past that I used, but they weren't as dependable or well-organized as Rarelust), but while scouring Rarelust for goodies just now, I came across the film that I mentioned above as perfect candidate for RiffTrax: (Mar 22, 2022, 15:31 pm)horseytown Wrote: This also reminds me that there is a one other previous production of theirs that I have yet to see, the Great Satan. My cousin did the music for this: https://rarelust.com/blood-symbol-1992/#more-78754 This is great. The only copy of film I have is a shitty dub I have from his VHS. It's probably the first horror film I saw as a kid.

My first film appearance was in a piece of cinematic excrement called Mark of the Beast, one of those "religious" films they used to make in the 70s & 80s to smuggle into the old USSR. In the US, they usually play in churches. A friend of mine who grew up in a Baptist household freaked out when I told her about it. Turns out she'd been forced to view endure that film multiple times as a kid in a way she described as being just short of the sequence from Clockwork Orange. She still has random panic attacks and night terrors because of that film and all of the others produced by Mark IV Productions. The only copy I'd ever seen was in a $.99 bin in a grocery store that had been dubbed into Spanish. My wife asked me if I wanted to get it and my immediate response was, "Dear God, NO". I actually found the original on a website and was able to show my wife and kids my first short film appearance where I intentionally effed up their continuity and proved that Doctor Who existed in their "barcodes are the mark of Satan" universe. Somebody in another thread suggested riffing so-called Christian movies. I not only agree but submit Mark of the Beast for consideration as one of the first to be tossed into the grinder! |
