Email Notice of Infringement
#1
I just got 2 emails from some group about lawsuits and infringement because I downloaded from here. What is going on with this? Should I be worried that something will happen to me? Why is it that almost everytime i download from here I get these emails? Is there something I should be looking for when downloading from here so I won't get these emails or does this happen with every download???

You dont download from The Pirate Bay you download from seeders.

You get the e-mails because some rights holder contacted your ISP to tell them your IP was spotted in the swarm.

If you don't like getting them, don't download hot content. It doesn't matter where you initiate the download from.

The only real options to add a layer of insulation is to use a seedbox or VPN to do your downloading. Neither are free and both have been discussed at length in other threads.

Sorry, but VPN's do not work after you get caught once. Your ISP is still monitoring your stream and can tell when you torrent even though it is encrypted. (fact)
You are on their abuser list by being caught once.

You will need to switch to another ISP THEN get a VPN for this strategy to work.

I am the sad user this happened to. My ISP can tell when I am seeding even thru encryption.

I need another totally different strategy to begin torrenting.

That is total bullshit.

First, VPN encryption can not be arbitrarily decrypted by an ISP or anyone else without the key.

Second, no ISP has any interest in what takes place inside a VPN tunnel. It is in their best interests to be disinterested.

The only thing any ISP can see when you are using a VPN is the IP address of the VPN server you are connected to.

Okay my dear, what you must do is to tell those bastards that you don't fucking care about what they think of you downloading illegal content, and also tell them that if they continue sending you those e-mails you will dowload as many illegal things as you can, just to take a shit of them

Dont do that.

What you do is ignore the emails and block them and keep doing what you were doing.

No. I never have. And I've gotten quite a few notices of dowloading things illegally, and I've ignored all of them, and not once has anything ever come of them. And I'm talking for 10 years or more now. I've been downloading things a long time.

I'm using Charter now, and it's not the same thing as a notice of infringement, but I get a postcard(!) from them every couple months telling me to go to some site of theirs cuz I've been doing something they don't like. I think just dowloading too much stuff, and I've never once gone to the site, or even acknowledged that I got their message. I still have internet from them. And they obviously know my ip and where I live and my name and everything else.

Here's what happens. Some private company sets up a way to monitor certain host servers, whether through paying them or just spying on them or whatever. Then they see that somone is downloading something that they shouldn't. I'm sure the major movies studios pay some of these companies to do it. But most of them don't have anything to do with the studios I'm also sure. Then the company contacts the person, and threatens them. That's called phishing. The ones who respond and admit that they did something wrong, are usually then threatened with a lawsuit unless they pay the company something. In other words, extortion.

If you ignore the original warning, then you are fine. No studio or company is going to spend thousands or 10's of thousands of dollars to prosecute someone who downloaded a few movies. It's not worth it. They are looking for people who feel guilty and will pay them money to avoid a lawsuit that will never happen.

Yes, for example Rightscorp. These sons of bitches profit from resettlement money.

It is reported that they are losing money.
