while i do have a shitload of DC and Marvel, i much prefer the Vertigo type of stuff over the suits and capes. i do like the darker suit/cape stuff, like the Avatar Trilogy, love Irredeemable, and Supergods is probably my favorite thing thats not Sandman.

and i love National Lampoon. i recently stumbled across them all in PDF and almost wet myself.
